This is a professional conference dealing with sensitive and sometimes difficult subject matter that may not be appropriate for untrained individuals. We are mindful that some individuals may have a difficult time with the subject matter, including those with a history of victimization. This is especially true because the content of workshop discussion cannot always be anticipated in advance.
A buffet lunch will be served on the lower level of the Resort from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. There will be 2 buffet lines, one located within Stillwaters Restaurant and the other in the Terrace Foyer. Seating will be available in Stillwaters Restaurant, TJ Muskies Lounge, Potomac, Greenbrier and Kanawha rooms (outdoor seating will also be available, weather permitting).
Unfortunately, personal guests are not permitted at ANY official conference activities, including meals (unless they've made prior arrangements with Stonewall Staff for payment of lunch).
You MUST have a wrist band (which will be in your Symposium folder) to go through the buffet line.
Please be advised, FRIS will be periodically taking photos (and going “live”) for social media usage. We will not tag individuals. If you DO NOT wish to have your picture taken, please see any FRIS staff at the registration table.
Be sure to post your pictures and videos and tag us on Facebook!
Use #Ask4ConsentWV, #WVSymposium20yrs or #WVBelieves so we can stay connected throughout the day!
Training certificates will be emailed to the email address provided during registration within one week after the training. Information will be pulled directly from your registration, so please verify spelling and capitalization is correct. For certificate edits due to spelling issues, there will be a $5 charge. If you attend the conference in place of another attendee and WVFRIS was not made aware of the substitution by March 27, 2020, there will be a $5 charge for a certificate. No printed certificates will be available this year.
If you must leave early and will need a training certificate, there will be an early departure sign-out sheet on the registration table. Your continuing education hours will be adjusted to reflect the departure time, as per Continuing Education requirements. It may take up to two weeks to receive your revised certificate.
When attending West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services (WVFRIS) training events or meetings, we welcome individuals with service or emotional support animals to attend. We follow the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, using their definition of a service animal: any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA. For the protection of other event attendees, we therefore require participants with an emotional support/comfort animal to obtain documentation from their medical or mental health professional and submit it prior to the event. Because of liability limitations, no lodging will be paid for attendees with animals other than those qualifying as service animals under the ADA.
