How to get a GMRS license

1.  Get a FRN number

• You can get a US government FCC Registration Number (FRN) by registering online through the FCC's Commission Registration System (CORES). Upon registration, the system will assign you a 10-digit FRN to uniquely identify you for all FCC transactions, such as applying for licenses or paying fees.

• Make note of your user name and password, which you’ll need for the next step

2.   Apply for GMRS license

• Log into license manager: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/login.jsp

• When you select the license to purchase, it's the last one listed: ZA (GMRS)

3. Pay for the license

• If you’re not there already, log in to CORES

• Click Manage Existing FRNs | FRN Financial | Bills and Fees  

• Click FRN Financial 

• Click View/Make Payments
