Purpose
Friends of Copper Falls State Park is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing volunteer services and financial support for the services at Copper Falls.
The Friends of Copper Falls State Park, Inc. is organized under Chapter 181 of the Wisconsin Statutes exclusively as a nonprofit corporation for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. The Friends are further organized to:
(a) Provide additional volunteer services for park projects, trail maintenance, events, and activities,
(b) Provide financial and in-kind support for venues and trails, construction projects, and activities,
(c) Support, provide, and encourage visitor participation in interpretive, educational, and nature-based activities throughout Copper Falls State Park.
Friends Activities
Throughout the year Friends hosts events and activities for park visitors. Friends provides financial support for programs and projects that enhance the visitors' park experiences. Volunteers help park staff maintain hiking, ski, snowshoe, and bike trails.
Friends contributed to the purchase of land expanding the park's footprint adjacent to Loon Lake. In addition, Friends purchased a 40 acre privately owned parcel that is surrounded by the park for the purpose of donating the parcel to the park. Recent fundraising efforts went to building the reservable pavilion and purchasing trail grooming equipment. Financial support for the park's naturalist program comes from Friends and grants Friends secures for the program.
