ePortfolio at EdUHK

The Career-Ready Student ePortfolio Award aims to prepare outstanding and ethically responsible, future-ready educators and talents while supporting their self-regulated, self-directed, and lifelong learning. This initiative empowers students to become self-directed learners, enabling them to document, manage and reflect on their formal and informal learning processes and outcomes through ePortfolios while integrating the seven Generic Intended Learning Outcomes (GILOs). In the digital era, ePortfolios also serve as digital profiles to document students’ learning outcomes and showcase achievements including e-badges that demonstrate AI and digital competencies, thereby enhancing their employability. About the Award

The Award is organised by the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC) in collaboration with Global Affairs Office (GAO), General Education Office (GEO), Student Affairs Office (SAO) and School Partnership and Field Experience Office (SPFEO) of The Education University of Hong Kong, with the following objectives:

To develop students’ understanding and attainment of GILOs as a structured framework for enhancing their learning and personal development, ensuring they become well-rounded individuals prepared for future challenges;
To foster self-regulated learning by encouraging students to set personal learning goals, monitor their progress, and reflect on their formal and informal learning experiences;
To promote authentic learning experiences by connecting academic knowledge with real-world applications, encouraging deeper engagement with the subject matter and preparing students to apply their knowledge in professional settings;
To develop AI and digital competency by using the ePortfolio as a platform for students to showcase their digital skills and proficiency;
To showcase students’ employability by highlighting their skills, achievements, and experiences in a visually engaging format.

Eligibility

ALL undergraduate students of EdUHK are welcome to join the Award, and the Award is divided into two streams depending on the area your ePortfolio is focused on.

Stream 1: ePortfolio focusing on non-local learning experiences, co-curricular and service-learning activities;
Stream 2: UePortfolio supplemented with Field Experience or Internship

EPORTFOLIO SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Overall: Design and Layout, Organisation, Language, and Theme

Utilise space, typography, and colour schemes effectively to enhance readability and visual engagement
Provide clear navigation for easy access to the theme, personal information, specific GILO reflections and artefacts
Exhibit professional, clear and concise writing, with an appropriate tone
Demonstrate a strong, consistent theme showing the student's identity, career aspirations, and values

2. Attainment of GILOs

Address all 4 core GILOs required for the specific Stream (1 or 2)

o Stream 1: Problem Solving Skills; Critical Thinking Skills; Communication Skills and Global Perspectiveo Stream 2: Problem Solving Skills; Critical Thinking Skills; Communication Skills and Ethical Decision Making

Present reflections and evidence that align with the “Mastering” or “Outstanding” descriptors of the GILO rubrics, demonstrating advanced capabilities
Connect the ePortfolio content with GILOs, supported by evidence of authentic learning experiences
Bridge academic knowledge and the respective GILOs, showing how learning has been applied in real contexts

3. Quality of Reflection: Application of Self-Regulated Learning strategies

Set specific, measurable, and achievable learning goals, showing direction in the student’s learning journey
Demonstrate active monitoring of their development over time, including tracking improvements or addressing setbacks in their skills and performance
Provide a deep and critical evaluation of the student's own performance and learning strategies, identifying strengths and areas for improvement with reference to the GILO rubric criteria as a benchmark

4. Selection of artefacts/ evidence: Multimedia Creativity and Evidence of Competencies

Integrate a diverse range of multimedia artefacts effectively to create a creative, dynamic, and engaging user experience
Include verifiable evidence of achievements, in particular e-badges for AI and digital competencies, as well as relevant professional certificates and scholarship or award records

JUDGING PROCEDURES AND PRIZES

A total of 60 ePortfolios will be shortlisted as finalists (30 from each stream) among all ePortfolios submitted according to the selection criteria. The judging panel formed by representatives from GAO, GEO, SAO, and SPFEO will then select 2 Outstanding Awardees and 3 Merit Awardees for each stream. For other shortlisted ePortfolios, the entrants will receive the Judges’ List Award. The list of awardees will be announced in April 2026.

2 Outstanding Awardees : $1,000 cash coupon and certificate + ePortfolio showcase in Poster Board Exhibition at the Learning and Teaching @EdUHK Festival 2025
3 Merit Awardees : $500 cash coupon and certificate + ePortfolio showcase in Poster Board Exhibition at the Learning and Teaching @EdUHK Festival 2025
25 Judges' List Awardees : $50 cash coupon and certificate
