Advanced Placement (AP) is a program run by the College Board (the makers of the SAT) that allows you to take special high school courses that can earn you college credit and/or qualify you for more advanced classes when you begin college. An AP exam is basically a test of all that you learn in an AP class. You will typically earn college credit if you pass the exam given at the end of the year in May.
LPS students will take two AP classes (history and government) as part of the LPS curriculum, but most LPSers take additional AP classes in areas including science, math, english, psychology, and economics.
It's more work! However, as long as you practice time management it's all very much doable. All LPS students have enough time to participate in sports/clubs, take on a part time job, etc.
Yes! Beyond the English Language Arts and Social Studies requirements, LPS classes fill the Visual & Performing Arts, Financial Literacy, and 21st Century Life & Careers requirements for graduation, so you don't have to worry about taking outside electives to meet these quotas!
Students take at least two years (and often three or four) of a world language. CNHS offers Spanish, Italian, and Latin (subject to change). CNHS also has an American Sign Language Club!
Clubs usually meet in the morning and during unit lunch. At times, they will host special events after school.
A club fair will be held at the beginning of the school year! You can join a club's Remind (a mobile messaging app) to receive updates about meetings and events. It's free to participate in extracurriculars, although some organizations may require an additional fee. Check out this page to learn more!

Colts Neck High School operates on a rotating block schedule. Each day there will be five “blocks” (periods) that are 67 minutes in length, as well as a 35-minute Unit Lunch period. The schedule consists of a seven-day cycle (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G days), with students seeing only five of their seven classes each day. This means that two classes will be “dropped” each day.
Please check the FRHSD website for updates regarding the 2022-2023 block schedule. Access the FRHSD 2022-2023 School Calendar for important dates.
All CNHS classes utilize Google Classroom. Further, many teachers and clubs ask students to join their Remind (a mobile messaging app). The Genesis Parent Portal is used to track attendance, grades, and schedules. All students receive a FRHSD email linked to Google Drive and Gmail!
A writing utensil, notebook, and folder would be helpful. Within the first few days of school, teachers will let you know what specific materials you'll need for their class (e.g. a binder).
Yes! However, you might not get your locker on the first day of school, so keep that in mind.
Lunch is 35 minutes! The entire school has lunch at the same time, but there are plenty of tables reserved for freshmen.
