Congrats to Ammar Danish for his outstanding research paper and project on The Effect of Increasing mTOR Signaling on the Speed of Regeneration in D. dorotocephala which was accepted for publication in the Open Journal of Regenerative Medicine in June 2023!!!

HOSA CLUB & COMPETITIONS
The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community. Students have the opportunity to compete at the HOSA Southern Regional Conference and the HOSA State Competition. Boro HOSA students Sadana Subramanian & Heather Cardinuto who placed in EMT; Clare Kim & Isabella Cardillo who placed in Nursing Assisting; and Ariana Maini who placed in pharmacology at the HOSA Southern Regional Conference. Isabella Cardillo placed 5th in Nursing Assisting and Sayuri Shree placed 5th in Healthy Lifestyle at the HOSA State Competition.

Senior Anatomy and Physiology students have the opportunity visit Rutgers University Cadaver Lab. Students in the Class of 2023 visited Rutgers University Cadaver Lab to learn about the musculoskeletal and organ systems.

MENTORING PROGRAM
MENTORING PROGRAM
Students in the Med Sci program are provided opportunities for mentoring between 9-12th grade students. The program offers 9th and 10th grade students an upperclassman mentor who will stay with them for the first two years in order to assist them in acclimating to the program. Med Sci Students got together for food and fun at a local Bowling alley on a Saturday Fall 2022.

Through our engaging High School Student Volunteer Program, our student volunteers have diverse opportunities to gain knowledge of the health care field while practicing valuable leadership and transferable skills. We invite young adults who are at least 14 years of age and actively attending high school to join us. Student volunteers must also be up to date on flu and Covid-19 vaccines and boosters.

Applewood has provided job opportunities for our student starting at 16 years old. Students earn $16/hour with flexible schedules that allow students to work around academics, sports, and other extracurriculars with shifts ending by 8 PM. Students can also earn scholarships that can be applied to college tuition.
