Taking a Book Out of a FRHSD School Media Center
Yes! Several of our high school media centers have fiction books that can be signed out by students (and staff).*
More information:
Colts Neck, Freehold Township, Marlboro High School, and Howell High Schools have organized fiction book sections, organized by authors' last names.
Books can be signed out at the circulation desk in the binder. Please write legibly your first and last name and the book that you are taking out.
Return the book to the labeled return slot or box at the circulation desk when you are done.
Freehold Boro High School's media center is still being organized and books are not ready to be borrowed yet but will be in September.
Manalapan High School's media center currently does not have books that can be signed out but fill out the form below to borrow one from another school if it is available.
Don't see a book on the shelf that you would like to read? Fill out this form to request to borrow it from another school's library (if we have it) or for me to put it on my "To Order" list for next year.
*There is presently no online mechanism to search for FRHSD books.
Taking a Book Out of Your Public Library
Yes! You can take a book out of the public library.
Live in Freehold Boro?
Note: The Freehold Public Library is presently under renovation and is not allowing patrons to take out physical books at the moment. However, once the library does reopen, you will be able to take out books at its location on East Main Street. However, ebooks and audio books can be borrowed now. See the information below about using the Libby app to take out ebooks and audio books.
You should have received a Freehold Public Library library card from your English teacher. If you didn't or you lost it, you can go to the temporary library location at 30 Mechanic Street to request one or replace yours. Be sure to tell them that you are a student of Freehold Regional HS District.
Live in Colts Neck, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan, or Marlboro?
You can use the Monmouth Library County Library system to take out books and other materials BUT you must go to a branch library and sign up for a free library card; your Freehold Regional HS District database login does NOT allow you to take out physical books or use their ebook & audio book services described below.
You can get a library card at any Branch Location's (Colts Neck, Howell, Manalapan, or Marlboro) circulation desk by completing a registration form.
Note: The Manalapan branch is temporarily closed for renovations.
The library requires identification that includes your name and street address, preferably a current valid driver’s license. New residents can bring a lease, a recent utility bill, etc.
A resident parent or legal guardian must register children of any age under 17 for a youth card.
For more information, visit the Monmouth County Library website.
Using the Libby App to borrow Ebooks and Audio Books
Both the Freehold Public Library and the Monmouth County Library offer ebooks, audio books, and magazines through the Libby app.
Live in Colts Neck, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan, or Marlboro?
You must have a physical Monmouth County Library card to use the Libby app. See the information above to find out how to get one.
Live in Freehold Boro?
Your physical library card and your library database login found in Genesis has the same username and password; it will work to login into Libby.
Using the Libby app:
Go to the Apple or Google play store and download the Libby app.
In Libby, follow the prompts to find your library and sign in with your library card number and password (last 4 digits of your library card number).
Browse your library's catalog, then borrow a book or audiobook or open a magazine.
Your selection will vary based on your library, since each library chooses what titles and formats to offer in Libby.
