Injury evaluations (new and follow-up) will take place at 3pm every day. Athletes can also make an appointment if needed. Athletes needing an injury evaluation will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis. The athletic trainer will make every effort to keep injury evaluations from interfering with practice times.
Coaches will be notified of injuries via phone, email or a written note.
If an athlete is referred to a physician, they’re considered ineligible and will require a physician’s note of clearance to return.
Athletes needing rehab/treatment should report to the athletic training clinic immediately after school prior to practices/games. Weekend rehab/treatment will be based on the events schedule for that day. If needed, athletes can make an appointment.
Athletes requiring taping will not be taped until they have completed their rehab/treatment, no exceptions!
Athletes will be issued a “Coaches Injury Report” after each rehab/treatment session that they will present to you when they arrive to practices/games. This report will indicate what they’re being treated for, the treatment(s) they received that day, their playing status, and the time they left the athletic training room.
Coaches will be informed regularly of their player’s progress and/or lack of compliance.
Statement on Insurance as it relates to injuries sustained during a school related activity. This can be found in the Student Family Handbook.
Injuries/Student Insurance
Any student participant who sustains an injury during a school related activity must report it to their coach/advisor/athletic trainer immediately and to the school health office within 24 hours. If an injury occurs outside of school, it must be reported to the coach/advisor/athletic trainer and/or health office prior to the student’s next practice, activity, or game. If an athlete is medically excused from participating in physical education class, the student cannot participate in an extracurricular sport.
The Board of Education has elected to authorize a voluntary student accident insurance policy for the school year to cover injuries that may occur during the school day. However, this voluntary policy does not cover any injuries that may occur through student play, practice, or travel in connection with interscholastic sports.
The Board of Education has secured an excess insurance policy to provide coverage for medical expenses that are not covered by a parent’s/guardian’s insurance policy and that were the result of student play, practice, or travel in connection with interscholastic sports. This catastrophic coverage is subject to a $25,000 deductible with a maximum medical benefit of $1,000,000.
