Team BGSU has high expectations for their Falcon students. You represent our team and your Fremont community and should do so with pride. We expect our students to be respectful, responsible and safe. This includes, but is not limited to:
Students respecting other students' right to learn and teacher's right to teach.
Be prepared for and on time to each class.
Use class time wisely.
As 8th graders, we also expect you to "Be More" as you will be transitioning to the high school. You are the leaders of our school and the rest of the student body looks to you to set the example. Make it a positive one!
In an effort to prepare you for high school, our late work policy is modeled after that of many teachers at Ross High School, with a little extra grace from us.
Work is expected to be completed and turned in on the due date.
If the work is turned in one day late, you will receive 50% credit for what you earned on the assignment.
You have until the end of "Make Up Monday" during homeroom to turn in any assignment from the previous week to still receive 50%.
If the assignment(s) is not received by the end of "Make Up Monday" homeroom, no credit will be offered and no opportunities to make up the assignment will be given.
You will be assigned a locker this year. You should have a labeled folder or binder for each class to stay organized. Be smart about when you use your locker. You should not be at your locker between every single period.
Per the FMS handbook, students' cell phones should be turned off and in their lockers. Students' cell phones should be turned off and stored safely in their backpacks or left at home. Should the student need to contact someone at home, the office phone can be used. Additionally, parents should call the office if they need to get in contact with their child.
In the event a student has a cell phone on them during classes, the policy is as follows:
1st offense: Teacher takes the cell phone, gives it back at 2:30 pm.
2nd offense: Teacher takes the cell phone, but the student will pick it up from Mr. Buckley's office at 2:30 pm.
3rd offense and beyond: The cell phone will be given to Mr. Buckley, and a parent or guardian will have to pick up the cell phone.
The BGSU policy regarding classroom tardies is that for every 3rd tardy, an after-school detention will be assigned. Further consequences may be assigned if tardiness continues to be a problem.
Students are encouraged to bring water bottles to class. This is not only for personal safety reasons, but also maximizes time spent in class that is already limited. Restrooms should be used during class changes to maximize time spent in class, but use of the restrooms will not be denied during class if at appropriate times or in emergency situations.
In the past, students were given 12 passes to use if the restroom or lockers needs to be used during instructional times. This is to encourage students to remain in class so they do not miss pertinent information and activities. The BG hall pass policy will be under review for the 2025-2026 school year.
