Physical Science Course Description

Physical Science is a full year course that is designed to produce students who are scientifically literate, critical thinkers and problem solvers.  It offers students experiences that will increase their scientific knowledge and develop processing skills.  Physical Science is about the relationship between the world we live in and how matter and energy interact.  Topics include experimental design, properties of matter, physical and chemical changes, mixtures and elements, compounds, atoms, chemical bonding and reactions, nuclear energy, force, motion, energy, thermal energy, and characteristics of waves, sound, and light.  Students use laboratory equipment on a regular basis.  A lab fee and scientific calculator are required.
