Freire Wilmington Student Portal

Weekly schedule

Updated: 11/29/21

Dear Freire Families,

Due to an unexpected malfunction of a major component of our HVAC system in several classrooms that impacts air flow, classroom temperature, and air filtration, the Freire Charter School Wilmington building will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday 11/30. We apologize for the inconvenience of closing the building and want families to know this decision has been made with the safety of our students, staff, and families in mind. Due to COVID precautions, air flow and filtration are crucial components of being able to safely open the school to our students.

While our physical building will be closed, all classes will be held virtually at their regularly scheduled time, with their regularly scheduled teacher. In addition, all student assignments can be found on Google Classroom. Please review the Sync Day Student Info document and visit our student portal for teacher Zoom information, bell schedule, and other vital information.

All after-school activities tomorrow are cancelled. The vaccine event scheduled tomorrow in the Dragon's Den from 8am-10am will proceed as scheduled.

We will notify families as soon as the necessary repairs have been completed.

Breathe Fire,

Freire Charter School Wilmington

COVID-19 safety Measures

COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Please review the following safety protocols with your child before their return to school:

  • Masks are required at all times for students and staff. If a student does not have an appropriate face covering, one will be provided by the school.

  • Student and staff temperatures will be checked daily upon entry to the building.

  • Students should complete a symptom screener each day to determine if it is safe for them to attend school.

  • No eating or drinking in the classroom is permitted.

  • Students will be seated 3 feet apart from one another in the classroom and must maintain social distancing throughout the day, including during transitions between classes.

  • Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are available at key locations throughout the building, including in every classroom.

  • Door handles to classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and lobby will be cleaned and sanitized every hour. At the end of each day, the building will be cleaned and all surfaces will be wiped and disinfected using a commercial grade electrostatic disinfectant sprayer (Clorox 360).

  • Prior to leaving the classroom at the end of the period, students will wipe down their assigned area with disinfectant wipes/materials.

  • Students must remain in their designated area of the building and use only the bathrooms closest to their classroom.

  • On-site Antigen Testing for students will occur at regular intervals throughout the month.

  • For access to our full safety plan, please contact Mr. Nate,

Student Expectations for In-Person Learning

Please review the follow expectations with your child before they return to school:

  • Safety: Students are expected to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols while in the building. Failure to follow the outlined safety protocols will result in removal from the in-person learning program and the student will return to fully remote learning.

  • Masks: Students must wear masks at all times in the building. Students may not eat or drink in the classroom. If a student does not have a mask, one will be provided. Masks must fit the student’s face, cover the nose and mouth completely, and not have valves or vents.

  • Technology: Students are expected to bring their fully-charged Chromebooks and chargers each day. Please be sure to charge the Chromebook each evening.

Daily Student Health Screener

Each day before school, families should use the Daily Student Health Screener to assess their child’s health. If the answer to any of the questions on the screener is “YES”, please do not send your child into school. Instead, please call us at school to report your child’s symptoms and reason for their absence, then follow up with your doctor to ask if they recommend a COVID-19 test for you.
