Synchronous vs. Asynchronous Classes: What's the Difference?

Posted: 8/31/20

Starting Monday, August 31, all students will follow their full schedule which includes synchronous AND asynchronous classes.

  • Synchronous: live class on Zoom, attendance is required

  • Asynchronous: work independently on Google Classroom, assignments are due at the end of the day, check in with teachers if needed (attendance not required)

So what does that mean?

Every day, all students will:

  • Attend advisory period at 9:00am (attendance required)

  • Attend 3 live synchronous classes on Zoom (attendance required)

  • Complete assignments for 3 asynchronous classes on Google Classroom (check-in with teachers on Zoom is recommended, but attendance is not required)

Overall, all students will follow their full schedule and complete work for all of their classes EVERY DAY.
