Animal trainers work regularly with captive wild animals that present a danger to themselves and each other, especially during routine care and exams. To lower the risk of injury, these trainers are certified in Animal Learning Theory, Classical Conditioning, Systematic Desensitization and Operant Training protocols to safely and effectively teach animals how to trust and cooperate with daily care. This keeps animal stress low, which creates a healthier, more cooperative animal. It also lowers the amount of invasive procedures and significantly lowers the risk of injury to staff members.
