Mission Statement

The Mission Statement of the Freeport Public Schools Library Media Centers is to ensure that all students, teachers and staff are effective, ethical users of ideas, information and technology. This is accomplished through integration of information literacy skills, through collaboration with teachers, and by providing access to information. Our goal is to provide an environment that is conducive to study, research and learning, and promote an enthusiasm for reading.

The New Visions library program's focus is to foster a love of reading by exposing students to a variety of texts, learning about digital citizenship and strengthening 21st century skills. Library lessons are infused with technology skills needed for today's learners.

Students are scheduled to visit the library with their class once a week for lessons and to borrow books.

We encourage all parents and caregivers to read with your children each evening to help foster a life long love of reading.
