Mrs. Lauren Clark began her career at Freeport 16 years ago. She currently serves as Art Department Coordinator for the District and teaches Kindergarten through 5th Grade Art at Buffalo Elementary.

Mrs. Clark is a graduate of Upper St. Clair High School. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (2004), and holds a Master's degree in Art Education from Carlow University (2010). After completing her graduate study, Mrs. Clark served as a guest speaker in advanced-level art education courses at Carlow.

A member of the National Art Education Association (N.A.E.A.), the Pennsylvania Art Education Association (P.A.E.A.), and the Associated Artists of Butler County (A.A.B.C.), painting is her favorite medium. Her preferred subjects include portraits (SEE TOP-LEFT COMMISSION: "Family Portrait"), pets/wildlife (SEE CAT AND DOG PORTRAITS), and landscapes. Her work has been featured at various galleries and venues throughout the state, including "The Canvas" in Freeport.

Her professional interests include arts advocacy, creative intelligence, and art-integrated curriculum (incorporating visual art within the academic subjects). She also loves Art History. Finally, Mrs. Clark has served as a cooperating teacher for local universities, mentoring four different student teachers in Art Education over the years.

Mrs. Clark lives in Sarver with her husband, who is also an artist, and rescue dog, "Little Dude!" When she isn't teaching, she enjoys painting, travelling, walking Little Dude, and reading.

Mrs. Jeffers has been teaching art in Freeport for nine years. She currently teaches art to 8th Graders at Freeport Area Middle School. Prior to working here at Freeport, Mrs. Jeffers taught art in Armstrong and Moniteau school districts. This is Mrs. Jeffers’s 16th year of teaching.

Mrs. Jeffers holds a bachelor's degree in art education from Mercyhurst College, and an M.Ed. in education from Indiana University of PA. Mrs. Jeffers is a Ford City High School graduate.

When she is not teaching, Mrs. Jeffers loves spending time with her family. Mrs. Jeffers resides in Sarver with her husband and their two daughters, Lydia Kathryn and Mila Ruby.

"I realize that not all students will have a career in art. However, everyone is faced with situations that require creative thinking and coming up with alternative solutions. Exercising our creative brain is a lifelong skill that I hope to have a part of developing for each student in our middle school, hopefully while having fun doing it."

Miss Deanna Henry
This year marked 13 years of teaching art in the Freeport Area School District for Miss Henry. She teaches all of the K-5 students at South Buffalo Elementary and grade 6 at Freeport Middle School. Prior to coming to Freeport, she also taught for two years with Armstrong School District in 4th and 5th grade regular elementary classrooms.
Miss Henry holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Clarion University of PA and completed an art minor while there. She has a PA Art Certification for grades K-12 and also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana University of PA. Recently, she has also begun to pursue a degree in Art Therapy/Counseling.
Shown are some of her illustrations that will be included in a second children's book written by her father, Gary Henry. "The Two Tales of a Kite" will be available this summer.

Miss Fortuna has been teaching art in the Freeport Area School District for 18 years. She has been at the High School for the past 13 years, but started her career teaching grades K-6 throughout the district.
Miss Fortuna has been teaching art in the Freeport Area School District for 18 years. She has been at the High School for the past 13 years, but started her career teaching grades K-6 throughout the district.
Miss Fortuna holds a bachelor's degree in Art Education from the Pennsylvania State University. Miss Fortuna's ongoing studies include courses in photography, sculpture, and glass art. Most recently, she completed all level one flame shop classes at the The Pittsburgh Glass Center.

When Miss Fortuna is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, Max, and traveling. She is currently looking forward to taking several glass classes to learn new skills, as well as writing and illustrating a book.

“Over the last few years I’ve learned the true benefit of art for my students. Simply put, it is therapy for many of them. So many of my students need to be able to switch gears for a class period, to be driven to think differently, to force themselves outside of the box. It’s like a reset button for so many of them. It helps them to carry on with their day, and brings about a positive outlook.”
