Wellness Policy Goals
Nebraska public school districts, including Freeman Public Schools, are required to complete a triennial assessment of our locally approved school wellness policy. The Triennial Assessment is comprised of four steps:
Measure the extent the local wellness policy complies with the USDA wellness policy requirements and model policy language.
Demonstrates progress made in reaching the goals of the wellness policy.
Measure the extent of compliance of all schools in the District in meeting LSWP requirements.
Make the Triennial Assessment results available to the public.

Goal 1: Freeman Public Schools will promote healthy food and beverage choices for all students
Freeman promoted healthy food and beverage choices for all students in the following ways:
Fresh fruits and vegetable bar for elementary and secondary students
Freeman Elementary Student Council meal selection
New product tasting
Student-grown vegetables from growing dome used in salad bars
Goal 2: Freeman will encourage students to engage in physical activities and provide and promote opportunities to do so throughout the school day and outside of school
Freeman encouraged students to engage in physical activities throughout the school day in the following ways:
Walking Club
Daily recess
Field Day
Pre-K motor lab
Activity Fair
Physical fitness testing
Physical Education instruction
Freeman encouraged students to engage in physical activities outside of the school day in the following ways:
Flag Football Night
Little Slugger Night
Pack the Nest
Basketball camps with Husker players
Goal 3: Freeman Public Schools will increase student-led universal wellness promotion
Freeman implemented the following student-led universal wellness promotions:
Suicide prevention training (QPR) wellness packet activities
October wellness challenge
November gratitude challenge
