Natures Classroom general information:

Nature’s Classroom is a program that teaches your child about the interrelationships which exist in the natural world. Through a questioning and hands on approach, children will come to realize the importance of those interrelationships to their daily living. These logical concepts are further stressed by bringing the child’s academic subjects together. For example, math may be taught as bridge-building, social studies taught as candle making or soap making, science taught as lake life investigations and English through a camp newspaper.

The program is an overnight opportunity meant to also foster independence. The children are housed in small groups, overseen by one or two adult chaperones. Approximately ten parents/teachers will serve as chaperones. All of the Nature’s Classroom facilities are winterized and dormitory type accommodation with bathrooms inside each room. They will provide food service and instructional staff to supplement our own classroom teachers’ participation. Accident insurance is also provided for each child.

We are planning two informational sessions for this trip, one during the school day for students, and one at night for parents and students. These will happen in late October, and notices will be sent home.

Our fourth graders will be attending Nature’s Classroom in Charlton, MA from Tuesday June 4th through Friday June 7th, 2019. We estimate the cost for each child will be approximately $408.

Student registration forms will also be sent home in late October, which should be returned with the required deposit. Again this info will be sent home in late October.
