The school adjustment counselor is a resource for all students at Apponequet Regional High School.
The adjustment counselor’s role is to:
Promote the social-emotional well being for students across regular education and special education programs through therapeutic interventions. Students who may be experiencing social or emotional challenges can see the school adjustment counselor in order to develop skills and strategies to overcome barriers to learning.
Referrals to the adjustment counselor may be made through the student’s guidance counselor, through a student's special education liaison, or as needed if for crisis intervention.
The school adjustment counselor may provide referrals to outside community services so ongoing therapeutic relationships can be established and maintained when necessary.
The school adjustment counselor regularly consults with teachers, families, school counselors and administrators to provide appropriate support services within the school setting.
