Mrs.Reading

My name is Angela Reading and this is my 8th year teaching. I am a resident of North Hanover Township, a member of the Northern Burlington Regional School Board, a wife, and most importantly a mother of two beautiful girls. I completed my B.A. at Rider University in 2010 and have a dual teaching certification in both general and special education. Education is something I highly value and during my time at Rider University I was named an Andrew J. Scholar, as well as the New Jersey Distinguished Student Teacher of the Year from the Commissioner of Education. I have continued my education in counseling as well as instructional and school leadership. During my postgraduate work I had the opportunity to work with numerous administrators from the Freehold Township Public School district. After working with and visiting the schools within Freehold Township, I knew this was the district for me. I am excited to be part of a school and district which is cutting edge, data-driven, and most importantly puts the needs of the students first.

Just to give you a sense of what both you and your child can expect from me this year, I’d like to tell you a bit about our classroom and, very briefly, explain my philosophy of teaching.

During the first few weeks, I plan on setting aside time so that I can get to know your child and his/her classmates better. Every student is unique and has different interests and learning styles. I want to ensure that I spend an adequate amount of time learning about all of my students and having them learn about me. My goal is for our classroom to be a community of learners based on mutual respect for all individual differences. I want both you and your child to know that our (not my) classroom is a safe environment where students are encouraged to share, learn from one another, and learn from me—just as I will learn from them. I want your child to feel as if our classroom is a safe space to make mistakes and grow as individuals.
