What are Elton Bucks?

Elton Bucks are special tickets that students earn when any staff member at Errickson notices them being kind, respectful, responsible, or safe. Every student has a chance to receive these tickets from any staff member. Students in grades K-2 can enter their Elton Bucks into a raffle, with three winners drawn from each house every month. Students in grades 3-5 will have the opportunity to trade in their Eagle Bucks once a month at the Elton Eagle Exchange. Click here to find out more information on the Elton Eagle Exchange.

How do students earn Elton Bucks?

Being KIND

Helping a Classmate:

If a classmate is having trouble with their schoolwork or carrying heavy books, a kind student could offer to help. They might explain a difficult concept or lend a hand with carrying things, showing that they care about their friend's well-being.

Including Everyone

Kind students make sure that no one feels left out. If they see someone sitting alone at lunch or during an activity, they might go over and invite them to join in. This helps everyone feel like they belong and have friends.

Giving Compliments:

A kind student can brighten someone's day by giving them a compliment. They might say something nice about a friend's drawing, outfit, or a job well done in a class project. Compliments spread positivity and make everyone feel good.

Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in making school a happy and friendly place for everyone!

Being RESPECTFUL

Listening to Others:

A respectful student listens carefully when their teacher or classmates are talking. They don't interrupt and wait for their turn to share their thoughts. This shows that they value what others have to say.

Using Polite Words:

Using words like "please," "thank you," and "excuse me" shows respect. For example, a respectful student might say "please" when asking for something and "thank you" when receiving help or compliments.

Following Rules:

Respecting rules and guidelines set by teachers and the school is important. A respectful student follows instructions, like raising their hand to speak, waiting their turn, and following classroom or school-wide rules.

These actions demonstrate respect for others, their ideas, and the school community as a whole.

Being RESPONSIBLE

Completing Assignments:

A responsible student makes sure to finish their homework and class assignments on time. They take their schoolwork seriously and put in effort to do their best.

Taking Care of Belongings:

Being responsible means taking care of one's belongings and keeping the school environment clean. A responsible student might keep their desk organized, pick up after themselves, and make sure not to damage or lose their belongings.

Being Prepared:

Responsible students come to school ready for the day. They bring the necessary materials like pencils, notebooks, and textbooks. They are also prepared for special classes or activities by having the right equipment or clothing.

In being responsible, students show that they can be trusted to take care of their tasks and contribute positively to their learning environment.

Being SAFE

Walking Safely:

A safe student walks calmly and carefully in the hallways and around the school premises. They pay attention to where they're going and follow any directions given by teachers or staff.

Using Equipment Properly:

Safety-conscious students use classroom and playground equipment as intended. For instance, they sit properly in chairs, use scissors and other tools correctly, and follow guidelines for using sports equipment during recess.

Reporting Concerns:

If a student sees something unsafe or notices a potential danger, they should report it to a teacher or a trusted adult right away. This could be anything from a spill on the floor to someone behaving unsafely.

By prioritizing safety, students help create a secure environment for themselves and their peers, making sure that everyone can learn and have fun without unnecessary risks.
