Learning This Week
This week in Early Years the children have been exploring the story of Easter and new life. Inspired by our visitors, (the chicks), the children have discussed what eggs mean to them and why Christians represent Easter with this symbol. The children have made Easter cards, Easter egg designs and some Easter crafts.
This week in Year 1 the children have been busy making their clay leaves as part of their Art project. They practised different clay techniques before choosing the type of leaf they wanted to make. It was quite messy but very good fun!
Don't forget Year 1's trip to Hillier Gardens is on Monday! The weather is meant to be dry, so wellies aren't necessary, but please ensure your child has sturdy & comfortable trainers or walking boots for the trip.
Year 2 had a fantastic time taking their cricket skills outside, where they took turns as fielders and batters, working together as a team. They showed great enthusiasm, supporting and encouraging each other throughout the game.
In Science, the children thoroughly enjoyed researching facts about a plant of their choice and exploring the variables of its growing conditions. They carefully planned their work and created informative fact posters. It was wonderful to see their teamwork, creativity and curiosity shine in both activities!
Late collecting?
If you are going to be late collecting your child, could you please ring ahead and let us know. It can be a real worry for some children if they are waiting to be collected and no one knows where their grown up is.

Thank you to all the children that joined in with our Junior ParkRun takeover on Sunday, and thank you to their parents/carers that managed to get them there for 8.45!! A massive well done for taking part and helping to raise £1116.50 in sponsorship!!!!! In addition to this, we will also be able to claim Gift Aid on £1003.50 of that, which is a massive help - thank you to those who were able to include that.
I believe the number of participants was one of their highest, please check out their Facebook page for all the statistics of the day. We hope, if you have not been before, that you enjoyed it and may continue to join in each Sunday. Please see our Facebook page for some photos.
Easter Fayre
The Easter fayre is this Saturday and the weather is looking good! An email has gone out this week with further information about the event and one to volunteers.
Gates will open at 10:30, we look forward to seeing you there.
Easter Bake Off & Sale
Our last event of the term is the FISHES Easter Bake Off. If you would like to enter the competition with your cake creations, please bring them to the office on the morning of 1st April. If you do not wish to enter the competition but are happy to donate any cakes/biscuits/tray bakes that would be appreciated as they will be put towards the cake sale that will be on before and after the Easter Hat Parade.
Frozen Friday
The weather is looking positively wonderful next week! In light of this we will be holding our first frozen Friday of the year and we will be selling ice creams and ice lollies after school on the playground near the wooden gazebo.
Parent Questionnaire Feedback
Following on from the Parent Survey that was sent out last half term, we will post the results of each question and one response to feedback each week. Thank you again to those who took the time to leave their feedback.

I’d be interested to know what the school is doing in regards to being Greener. The Christmas fayre was fantastic but I wonder whether we could look at making it more eco-friendly, i.e., less plastic toys.
We did
We have a Sustainability plan for our school. The aim of which is to work towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach. We have had visits from different outside agencies to help the children learn about recycling and have recently started recycling food waste. In addition we have had solar panels for several years now to help us produce electricity and reduce our consumption from an external source.
If you have ideas for FISHES, please feel free to get in touch with them, or pop along to their next meeting to share them!
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
