Learning This Week
This week in EYFS, the children have been exploring "people who can help us". They have been researching different members of the community and decided to write about a person of their choice. The children then used their phonics skills to write a caption about the real-life superheroes.
This week in Year 1 the children enjoyed planning and carrying out an investigation in Science. They were given the challenge of finding out which materials are waterproof and which materials are not. They carefully observed each
material and recorded their findings.
This week has been full of excitement and discovery for our Year 2s! In PE, the children have been working hard on their Intro Skills, including holding still shapes and trying out simple balances. They’ve loved practicing their right and left splits, box splits, shoulder flexibility, and perfecting their broad jumps – what fantastic effort all around!
In Maths, the classes dived into the world of shapes, exploring the properties of 2D shapes and discovering how they come together to form 3D shapes. There was so much curiosity and amazement as they investigated 2D faces and how nets transform into 3D creations.
What a fantastic week of learning and fun!
Winter PE Kit
Just a reminder that children in years 1 and 2 will continue to do PE outdoors throughout the winter. They should all have black or navy jogging bottoms and jumper in their PE kit so that they can participate comfortably.
Girls who wear tights should also have some socks in their PE kit so their shoes don't rub during PE.

Christmas Performance
This year's Christmas show is "It's A Miracle" and will be performed by the whole school. Tickets can be booked through the link below and are free of charge, but are limited to 2 per child across all showings to ensure that everyone gets a chance to see a show.
Please book tickets by Wednesday 4th December, so that any unallocated tickets can be released, and families who would like additional tickets can order them.
Performances will be on:
Thursday 12th December @ 09.10
Friday 13th December @ 09.10
Friday 13th December @ 14.00
Any child with more than 2 tickets ordered against their name before the 4th December will have their additional tickets cancelled.
Due to limited space in the hall, pushchairs cannot be brought inside, and so younger siblings should be able to sit on laps, or will need a ticket. Please try to ensure that young children do not cause a distraction to our audience or performers!
This year, our chosen charity for donations during the performances is Young Minds, a charity which supports children and young people (along with their parents and carers) with their mental health. Donation buckets will be at each performance for you to give what you can.
Christmas Jumper Day
Christmas Jumper Day will be the same day as our Christmas lunch, on Wednesday 18th December. Children can wear their best festive jumper to school in return for a donation to Save the Children. Donations can be made online via our Just Giving page here, or you can send in a small cash donation on the day.
Barriers to Waking or Cycling
As part of Hampshire County Council’s commitment to improve accessibility and enable more people to walk and cycle for short journeys, you are invited to help identify where there are barriers to walking and cycling on your local streets. Hampshire County Council want to hear from all walkers and cyclists, including people who use mobility aids (including mobility scooters), pushchairs or buggies, people who use cargo bikes and trailers, or other adapted cycles.
The kinds of barriers they are looking for, include:
· Crossings that are difficult to use because they don’t have dropped kerbs and tactile paving;
· Dropped kerbs which are not flush with the road; these can make travel difficult for wheelchair users;
· Staggered or chicane barriers;
· Bollards placed too closely together;
· Items such as guard railing, lampposts and signposts which make the pavement too narrow.
In some cases, physical measures have been installed for safety reasons, or to deter unlawful access. Where a safety concern remains alterations to position or type of measure can often be made to make the road accessible, for example to wheelchair users. Safety audits will be completed for any changes made.
We are also looking for information on cycle signs and cycle parking, including:
· End of route/cyclists rejoin carriageway signs (these are often used interchangeably) and no cycling signs. There are no current plans to remove these, but knowing where they are will help us plan better in the future – for example, showing people cycling and where to go when a route ends;
· Locations for new cycle parking, or places where existing cycle parking is not meeting demand.
Given the current financial pressures Hampshire County Council is facing, we will need to seek external funding to make improvements. The information you share will help us to do this, for example by bidding for government funding, or negotiating contributions from new developments. If more funding is available in the future, we may reopen the survey.
Please note, you should not report any highway defects, e.g. potholes or damaged signs on this map. These should be reported by visiting www.hants.gov.uk/transport/highways
Have your say by visiting https://hants.gov.uk/barriers-walking-cycling to complete the survey.
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
