Learning This Week
This week in EYFS the children have been thinking about the different people who help us. They thought of an emergency problem and what the would do to solve it. The children have also enjoyed making vehicles using construction and junk modelling.
This week, the children have been busy exploring the wonderful world of diaries. Together, they looked at what a diary is, why people write them and the key features that make diary writing unique. The children loved sharing ideas and discovering how diaries can capture thoughts, feelings and special moments. In Science, the children continued their hands-on learning by investigating different materials. They headed out on a materials walk around the school grounds, where they enthusiastically searched for objects and discussed their properties. They were brilliant at identifying what materials things were made from and thinking about why those materials were chosen. It’s been a fantastic week of curiosity, creativity, and discovery!
KS1 are looking for donations of glass jars please, for an English project where they will be making snow globes. We would love to gather enough empty jars (with lids) so that each child can make a globe!
School Nurse Visit
Our school nurses have contacted us to ask if we would like to offer a parent information session in school with them - primarily around toileting needs but they would also be able to help offer advice or signposting around other things too.
Previously when we have laid on things like this we have not had a great turnout, and so we wanted to gauge reaction before we say yes and book them in. If you would be interested in attending, please drop the office an email to say so. At this point we don't have a date or time, but it would be during the school day, either straight from drop off or just before collection.
Christmas Performance
This year's Christmas performance will be A Miracle in Town! There will be two performances on Tuesday 16th December (at 9.10am and 2.00pm) and one on Wednesday 17th December at 9.10am.
As in previous years, each child will have 2 tickets, which can be used for any performance. This is 2 tickets total, not 2 tickets per show.
Tickets are free, but need to be booked online here by Monday 8th December. You will need to provide the name of the child the tickets are allocated to, as well as the name of each guest. Younger children will need a ticket if they cannot sit comfortably on an adult's lap for around an hour, and unfortunately we do not have space in the hall for pushchairs.
If there are tickets remaining after the 8th December, these will be released on a first come, first served basis for up to 2 more tickets per family.
Please note this is a whole school performance, where every class is included in the show.
Donation buckets will be available at all performances for our chosen charity this year, Mission Christmas Cash for Kids.
Cash 4 Kids / Mission Christmas
Thank you so much to the families who have already donated to our Mission Christmas toy donation box! We'll be able to accept new, unwrapped gifts and toys until Friday 12th December, the donation box is in the main office.
Our Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 18th December will also be raising money for Cash for Kids - you can donate online on the day or in advance via our fundraising page.
Roblox Pop-Ups
We have been made aware of a pop-up that is appearing on Roblox, encouraging children to download an app called pollybuzz (or pollyfuzz in some spelling cases). The app seems quite simple where children are asked questions, and it generates an Artificial Intelligence ‘friend’ – this starts off quite innocently but then begins to show extreme content (including suicide, self-harm and pornography). It may be helpful to remind children about not clicking on pop-ups in games and to report anything that is worrying or inappropriate to a trusted adult. It may also be helpful to communicate with parents about this. Roblox has parental controls and instructions of how to put these on can be accessed via this link:
Parental Controls Overview – Roblox Support .
Please note that parental controls will stop some pop-ups, but not all, so appropriate supervision is still required.
FISHES News
Thank you to everyone that came along to our wine and wrap evening. It was a great turn out and we managed to get all the presents wrapped ahead of the Christmas shopping!
Thank you for all your kind donations today from the non-uniform day. We have a great selection of items that will go towards the stalls at the Christmas Fayre. If you forgot to bring your donation in, do not worry there is still time just drop it into the office or pass it to the class teacher!
Christmas Fayre
We can't believe the fayre is only a week away now! Thank you to everyone that has signed up to volunteer so far. We are now slightly closer to filling the slots with only 30 left. We are particularly short on the food and refreshment stalls, we would really appreciate more help in these areas if anyone has any time to spare. Please click here for more information about the fayre and a map of the event.
Entry is via the junior school car park and via the gate by Year R.
An email will be sent out to all volunteers next week with further information and a copy of the rota.
Raffle
We are still accepting raffle tickets in the office if you have any to hand in. We can take payment by card and cash - your child will have a book in their bookbag and you can pop in and collect more if you would like.
We look forward to seeing you all next Saturday - please remember to bring loose change with you for the games as this helps us out massively!
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
