Learning This Week
This week in Year R the children have been enjoying the sunshine. The children took part in Sports Day and showed fantastic team work, focusing on developing their gross motor skills. They had lots of fun!
This week in Writing, Year 1 have been finding out about Blue Whales. The children have watched David Attenborough videos and explored non-fiction texts to find out some amazing facts. Did you know Big Blue Whales eat 30 million Krill a day - that's 210 million in a week! The children then created their own double page spread of information using questions to organise their writing, and exclamation marks to show the amazing facts.
Year 2 have had an absolutely fantastic week! They loved exploring the poem Hippocrump and showed amazing creativity by inventing their own magical creatures and writing their own fun versions of the poem, packed with rhyme and onomatopoeia.
The highlight of the week was Sports Day, the children shone with enthusiasm, teamwork and determination. We are so proud of all their effort!

FISHES News
Sports Day
Thank you to everyone that visited our pop up at Sports Day, you helped us to raise an amazing £87.49.
Legoland
We hope that everyone that purchased tickets for Legoland for 20th June has a wonderful day, what amazing weather for it too!
Summer Fayre
Thank you for all your kind donations today on non-school uniform day. All donations will be used on stalls at the summer fayre.
Thank you to everyone that has already signed up to volunteer, as it stands with the event only being a week away we are going to have to not run 3 of the games, 3 of the games will have to shut early or be shut temporarily, we do not have enough people to take money on the inflatables and we will not be able to have any food as there is not enough people to cook or serve. With a week to go and this many spaces it is very hard to finalise the details and get information sent out to people. There are 600 families across the two schools and only 127 slots in total to fill, we love putting on these events and we know you love to attend them but they can only happen if there are volunteers to help run the stalls. We have never had to cancel or scale back an event before and it would be really sad if we had to this year. We do not expect people to help for the whole duration as we appreciate you want to also enjoy the day with your families which sadly the PTA members do not always have chance to do due to having to stay hands on due to lack of volunteers. If you are able to spare just one hour we would really appreciate you filling in the following form https://volunteersignup.org/47JB4. Children love to help on these stalls too so they can always help and if you have a sensible Year 5 or 6 child that you think would be capable of manning a stall we would be happy for them to sign up too.
Raffle Tickets
Please remember to bring your raffle tickets into the school office by Friday 27 June. You are welcome to collect more tickets and share them with your friends and families, and tickets can still be purchased at the fayre. We have an amazing array of prizes. If you are unable to be around for the calling of tickets at the summer fayre and you win a prize you will be contacted after the event.
Exciting News!!!
You may have seen on our Facebook page the return of the Laser Show!!! Following the success of last year planning has already begun, this event will be held on Saturday 18th October and tickets will go on sale from 1st July.

Our resident weather man has provided the following forecast for the Summer Fayre:
"It’s a little too far out to put any certainties on things at this stage but the current outlook is that despite some unsettled weather earlier in that week (23-26th) things may begin to settle down for the end of the week and weekend, with a good dry outlook. Temperatures are looking to be a little cooler than Sports Day but still feeling warm with highs in the low 20s."
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
