Learning This Week
This week in Year R, the children have been learning about emotions, based on the book, 'The Colour Monster'. They have explored the different colours and the emotions that are associated with them, creating their own 'jars' of emotion. The children have also been reflective, recognising how they might feel in the moment and, the impact that emotions have on their bodies.
This week in Year 1 the children have enjoyed learning about measurement in Maths. They have been comparing the length and height of different objects. Today the children used cubes to measure the length and height of classroom objects - including their shoes!
This week in Year 2 has been full of energy and excitement! The children have absolutely loved Kinetic Letters, where they've mastered the slide, slope, and push technique to help them write more accurately. Their handwriting skills are really coming along!
In PE, things got even more exciting with a thrilling relay race! The class used their knowledge of different throwing techniques to compete in a fun and fast-paced race. It was all about teamwork, friendly competition, and showing off their skills.
Fantastic work, Year 2! Keep up the amazing effort! 🎉

Scholastic Book Fair
We are so excited for the return of our book fair! All children will have the opportunity to visit the fair during the school day to look at the books, and it will be open after school from Wednesday 16th to Monday 21st October so that families may come along to view / purchase books.
If you are not able to visit the fair with your child but would like them to be able to chose a book to buy, you can send in cash in a named envelope. Please pass this to the class teacher any time between the 16-21 October.
As well as books, there are always small stationery items such as pencils, bookmarks etc, with prices from £1.
As a school, we are given back a percentage of the money raised during the fair to spend on new books for our classrooms and libraries, so please do come along to support it if you are able to!
After School Clubs - now open to Year R!
Flu Immunisations
If your child did not have their flu spray in school on Wednesday, you can still fill in the e-consent (again if necessary) through the same website and you will receive an email inviting you to bring your child along to a community clinic.

Walktober
We are taking part in Walktober 2024!
As we head into autumn, it’s important that we all keep active and where possible, get outdoors. To encourage this, the My Journey Team at Hampshire County Council has invited schools to celebrate International Walk to School Month by taking part in Walktober.
This event is designed to inspire pupils, families and staff to travel actively and sustainably throughout October.
We hope as many of our pupils, families and staff as possible can get involved by walking, wheeling, cycling, scooting, using Park and Stride and public transport more often.
There is a Walktober competition for your child to enter. Each pupil will receive a Walktober Activity Card. Over the month of October, pupils complete six activities (they can do more if they wish)! Pupils can choose from the suggestions list or be creative and think of their own activity too! The Walktober Activity Card forms the pupil competition entry.
Please see the website here for more information on the event and competition.
FISHES News
Laser Show
We can't believe that after a year of planning it is only one more sleep! An email was sent yesterday to everyone that has purchased tickets with an information booklet attached. Please take the time to read this as it covers lots of information about the event.
We have sold a considerable number of tickets, so we please ask you to walk to the event, park at a friends and walk and we have also arranged for the old Budgens car park in the village to remain unlocked until 9pm so you can park and stride from there. If you do find yourself parking around the local roads please park considerately and do not park dangerously or block resident's drives - there is strictly no parking on site.
We look forward to seeing you all there!!!
Christmas Fayre
The volunteer signup is now open for the Christmas Fayre. If you are available for any of the time slots please complete your details in the following link. There is no expectation to volunteer for the whole event as we know everyone wants to also enjoy time walking around with their family - many hands make lightwork and allows everyone time to also enjoy the event. volunteersignup.org/YF4Q9
Tickets to visit Santa are now live. These are pre-bookable in advance of the fayre, there will be a very limited number of walk in slots so make sure you book in advance! Tickets can be purchased via the following link: http://buytickets.at/fishes
We are lucky enough to have White & Guard supporting our Christmas Fayre and will be donating money towards this. In return we need addresses to have their boards displayed at. If you are able to have a board displayed at your property 2 weeks before the event please complete the following google form. We need 20 addresses by Monday 20th October, so please complete the form over the weekend if possible. https://forms.gle/Co8UWEd7FtBPQYxe9
We are also looking for donations of cuddly toys and items for our tombola. If you have items you are able to donate please bring these along to the school office.
Christmas Shopping
On 5th December we hold a Christmas Shopping event for the children in school. This is a wonderful event and the children absolutely love it as this is their opportunity to go 'shopping' and buy their loved ones a surprise gift for Christmas. More details will be sent out about this nearer the time, but we are looking for volunteers. You must hold a DBS which the school has carried out and the event runs from approximately 9.30 - 2.00 (it will finish once all the children have done their shopping). If you are able to help for all or part of this please do let us know.
We will also need lots of presents wrapping for this event so if you are happy to take some home to wrap please do let us know and we will get this organised once the laser show event is over.
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.

What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
