Learning This Week
This week in EYFS, the children have been thinking about time. They have learnt a song to help them to remember the months of the year, and found out when their birthdays are. They have also talked about the different times of the day and learned how to tell the time to the hour. The children have played What's the time Mr Wolf?
This week in DT, Year 1 have been creating their own couscous salads. The children designed their salads and ordered the food they would need. Next they learnt how to grate, cut and peel safely. They worked as a team to assemble their salads and finally, (their favourite bit!), they got to taste them!
This week, the children thoroughly enjoyed using Once Upon a Picture as inspiration for their independent creative writing. Some chose to write descriptive sentences, while others crafted imaginative stories based on their selected image. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine through in such different ways.
As we come to the end of the year, with two days remaining, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of Year 2 for their hard work, enthusiasm and kindness throughout their time with us. It has been a joy to watch them learn and grow and we couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them. We wish them the very best of luck as they move on to the junior school, they are more than ready for this next exciting chapter.
Have the most wonderful summer, stay safe and thank you for being such a special part of our school community.
KS1 are in need of puppets for our fairy tale theatre role plays starting in September. If you happen to have any puppets at home that you no longer need and would be happy to donate, we would be so grateful! Please bring any donations to Turquoise Class.
Thank you so much in advance for your support!

Parent First Aid Course
We are again lucky enough to have Global Medical Training back in school to run a parent first aid course.
During the training they will cover seizures, breathing, fevers, CPR, Defib, choking, head injuries etc. These are all things that could quite easily happen in your home, and appropriate first aid training could mean the difference between life and death and by undertaking first aid training will mean you are better equipped to manage these situations.
This 3-hour course costs just £15 per head and will be held in school; Monday 29th September 12:00-3:00 in Green Class. In order for the session to go ahead we require minimum of 7 people to sign up and there is a maximum number of 20. If this is something you would like to attend, please contact the school office on 01489 782075 to book and pay for your place.
If you have any questions in advance, please do let us know. To secure your place please sign up by 22nd September.
School Fruit & Veg Scheme
The SFVS supplies us with a portion of fruit or veg each day, for all children. Unfortunately, they have informed us that they are unable to supply this for the last 2 days of term. Therefore, if you would like to send your child in with a healthy snack on Monday & Tuesday for them to eat at break time, please do. The snack should be fruit or vegetable only!
Parking from September
Despite our best efforts, there are unfortunately still parents & carers who are using the staff car park at pick up and drop off, as well as permit holders parking in staff spaces. This means there are staff members who are unable to park their vehicles, as well as extra cars posing an unnecessary safety risk by using the road at peak times.
We have therefore been left with no alternative but to have barriers installed over the Summer holidays at the entrance & exit of our car park. These gates will be locked at peak times to restrict access to staff and authorised visitors only. We will not be offering permits to any parents or carers as we do not have any disabled parking. There is a disabled bay at the end of School Lane but this is strictly for Blue Badge holders and cannot safely be used during pick up and drop off time.
Please do not attempt to drive down School Lane, as there will be no where to turn around except at the very bottom by the Junior school gates. Parking along the double yellow lines is prohibited also, due to the width of the road and it is illegal to park on the pavement. We would thank you to arrive in plenty of time to find suitable and safe parking on the numerous local roads, or to "Park & Stride" from Hedge End Village. The local PCSOs will be dropping in to monitor the system in the first weeks of the autumn term.
Lunchtime Supervisor Vacancy
We currently have vacancies in September for two Lunchtime Supervisors, one to work a Monday to Thursday, and one on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Please contact the office for an application form or more information.

Activate!
From Tuesday 15th July, children across the country are being inspired to move more this summer, with the launch of a new animated series, Activate, co-created by fitness coach, Joe Wicks MBE, and Studio AKA, the team behind ‘Hey Duggee’, and is backed by the government as part of a new partnership to reach schools and families across the country.
Physical activity is essential for growing bodies and minds. But over half (53%) of UK children are not meeting daily activity guidelines. Backed by the Department of Health & Social Care, Department for Education and Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Activate aims to help address inactivity among children by getting children moving and making fitness fun.
The series promotes short bursts of movement through fun, accessible content that can be easily integrated into your day, whether at home, school, summer clubs or on the go - getting children moving over the summer and beyond.
Each 5-minute episode features an animated Joe Wicks, alongside original characters known as the Activators, and upbeat music courtesy of Universal Music UK, who are the exclusive music partners. The first episode of 'Activate' will be available on 15th July for free on The Body Coach YouTube channel, with further episodes released weekly over the holidays.
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.
