Learning This Week
This week the children have been inspired by our conversations about Remembrance Day and poppies. The children have created poppies using a range of skills such as painting, collage and drawing.
This week in KS1 the children have enjoyed exploring photography in Computing. They have been learning how to take landscape and portrait photographs. The children had a challenge to find out if particular objects were better to have their photo taken in landscape or portrait. The children found out if they looked at an object and it is upright, they need to take a portrait photo, and if the object is sideways they would need to take a landscape photo. Here are some of the photos the children took:
KS1 are looking for donations of glass jars please, for an English project where they will be making snow globes. We would love to gather enough empty jars (with lids) so that each child can make a globe!
Christmas Performance
This year's Christmas performance will be A Miracle in Town! There will be two performances on Tuesday 16th December (at 9.10am and 2.00pm) and one on Wednesday 17th December at 9.10am.
As in previous years, each child will have 2 tickets, which can be used for any performance. This is 2 tickets total, not 2 tickets per show.
Tickets are free, but need to be booked online here by Monday 8th December. You will need to provide the name of the child the tickets are allocated to, as well as the name of each guest. Younger children will need a ticket if they cannot sit comfortably on an adult's lap for around an hour, and unfortunately we do not have space in the hall for pushchairs.
If there are tickets remaining after the 8th December, these will be released on a first come, first served basis for up to 2 more tickets per family.
Please note this is a whole school performance, where every class is included in the show.
Donation buckets will be available at all performances for our chosen charity this year, Mission Christmas Cash for Kids.

Our Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 18th December will also be raising money for Cash for Kids - you can donate online on the day or in advance via our fundraising page.
FISHES News
Christmas Shopping
Today your child will have brought home in their bookbag an envelope containing 4 gift labels. On Thursday 4th December Green Class will be opening up as a Christmas shop for the children. Gifts are being sold at £3 each and each child is limited to a maximum of 4 gifts. The presents will be wrapped and they will get to choose gifts for family/friends. They will then bring these gifts home to put under the tree. If your child wishes to take part, please complete the gift labels for who they wish to buy for (if it is a child please add the child's age so we can steer them in the right direction!) and either return these to the office with the money enclosed or bring the envelope in on the day.
Wreath Workshop - Thursday 27th November
Tickets are still available for our exciting festive workshop! Whether you're a first-time wreath maker or feel you lack creativity, there's no need to worry. The wonderful team at The Hampshire Flower Hut will be there to guide you every step of the way. You’ll be amazed at the beautiful wreath you create! Https://buytickets.at/fishes

A raffle ticket book was sent home with your child last week. If you wish to purchase these please return them to the office along with your payment - this year we will be taking payment by both card and cash. If you require more raffle books these can be collected from the office. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER YOUR CHILD'S NAME ON THE STUB, AS PER OUR LICENCE RULES CHILDREN UNDER 16 CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN A RAFFLE.
Volunteers
In order for the fayre to run smoothly and for us to be able to do everything we have planned we need your help! The slots are almost half full, thank you to everyone that has already signed up. If you are able to help (you can sign up just for an hour you don't have to sign up to the whole event) please follow this link and complete the form https://volunteersignup.org/LDJWL
Unwanted Christmas Jumpers
If you have any unwanted Christmas jumpers sat at home please consider donating them to school. These will then be sale at the raffle table at the Christmas Fayre where we will just be asking for a donation.
Non-Uniform Day - Friday 21st November
This day is a non-uniform day where the children can wear their own clothes rather than uniform. In return we ask that you donate bottles or chocolates/sweets - these can be handed in class on the day. These items will then be sorted and used at the Christmas Fayre. By receiving donated items it helps to maximise the money raised at our events, we are really grateful for all donations.
School Nurse Sessions
Based on the popularity and uptake for the clinic appointments previously shared, some more dates have been secured for the rest of the academic year. The clinic will still be held at the Salvation Army Hall in Hedge End, and you can book an appointment by calling the team on the number on the flyer.
The new dates are as follows:
Tuesday 20th January
Tuesday 10th March
Tuesday 12th May
Tuesday 30th June
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
