Learning This Week
It's been a busy four days in Early Years this week! Alongside all their usual Discovery Time learning and adult guided activities, the children have been following recipe instructions to make gingerbread men. They enjoyed decorating and eating these during our VE day activities and celebrations. What a jam packed week!
This week Year One had a wonderful time celebrating VE Day. Several children shared their family history with some fascinating photographs, medals and memories from World War Two. The children also enjoyed playing some games from the 1940's, particularly, "In and Out the Dusty Bluebells," and "What's the Time Mr Wolf." They were also able design and make some bunting and medals too, which are decorating our classrooms.
This week, the children had lots of fun learning about possessive apostrophes. They particularly enjoyed working together as a team to match pictures and create sentences using possessive forms. In music, the children were enthusiastic and engaged as they moved freely and creatively to music using props. They explored how to create action patterns in 2-time and 3-time, and listened actively while stepping out a variety of rhythmic patterns with their feet, such as ‘walk’, ‘jogging’, and ‘skipity’. Well done Year 2!
School Grounds
You may have noticed that some of our school grounds looks in need of a little attention so we thought we would just take a moment to explain why. The mowing of our school field, cutting of bushes and removal of weeds is carried out by a company contracted through Hampshire County Council. Recently there has been a change in the company contracted to do this and as such there has been a pause on work being carried out in schools. We have been advised that the new contractor will be visiting our school site very soon to carry out their work schedule.

Thank you to everyone that has been coming along to our Ice Cream sales. We generally hold these on a Friday if the weather is looking good, if you would be available to help at any of these please do let us know.
If anyone is available to help sell cakes after school on 19th May please also get in touch. You do not need a DBS for these roles.
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.
