Learning This Week
This week in EYFS the children have been embracing the sunshine. Some have enjoyed lots of opportunities for outside Discovery Time whilst others spent time carefully creating observational paintings of the beautiful spring time daffodils.
Year 1 enjoyed their trip to Hillier Gardens this week to consolidate their learning this half term about plants. They took part in various activities such as a seed survival game, the bee game, looking at evergreen and deciduous trees as well as creating a herb scented caterpillar. The children's favourite activity was the wobbly bridge! They had a fantastic trip and we had some very sleepy children on the way home!
Don't forget Year One Tudor Dress Up day on Tuesday 22nd April
This week, Year 2 had an exciting virtual visit from author Huw Aaron! The children loved meeting the quirky characters from Sleep Tight, Disgusting Blob and were amazed as Huw created a brand-new monster just for them. In Maths, they had fun collecting Easter egg data by recording their findings using tally charts, bar charts and pictograms.
Well done for a fantastic term!
After School Clubs

There will be a themed menu on Thursday 24th April - Delicious Desserts!
FISHES News
Easter Fayre
Another successful event, thanks to all the organisers, volunteers, donations and the children that brought their friends and families along. We were very lucky with the weather again which I think the ponies were pleased with just as much as everyone attending! We hope you enjoyed the addition of the Funky Playbus and the Crafty Crocs craft table this year. We are pleased that you all helped us to raise a grand total of £1596.97.
Easter Bake Off
Wow!! We had some truly incredible bakes this year!!!! Well done to the 4 winners of the bake off competition they were all well deserved wins but the School Ambassadors did find it incredibly hard to choose.
We were blown away by the amount of bakes brought in, so much so we were able to do a cake sale over 2 afternoons and you helped to us to raise an absolutely incredible total of £399.60
Frozen Fridays
After Easter weather dependent we will be selling ice creams most Fridays. If this is something you would be able to volunteer and help with please do get in contact via the school office.

I’d like to address the car park. I get the impression that some people abuse it by using it when they’re not supposed to. Also leaving car engines running when the children are walking into/out of school seems a common occurrence. It’s not nice for them walking into a cloud of car fumes. Perhaps something to address.
Stricter controls on parking in car park as certain parents use it most days with some cars parking in the lane too.
We did
Thank you for raising the concerns regarding the car park.
We have reinstated the Permit System and if vehicles are using the carpark without a permit we will take measures to approach individuals and remind them that this system is in place.
We understand the importance of ensuring that the car park is used appropriately and that it provides a safe environment for our children. It has come to our attention that some individuals may be using the car park when they are not supposed to, and that cars are often left with their engines running while children are walking in and out of school. This is indeed a concern as it exposes the children to harmful car fumes. We will ensure a note to remind individuals to turn off their engines whilst parked in the carpark is included in any correspondence when permits are issued.
Thank you once again for bringing this to our attention. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our children and appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
We also have a few ideas in the pipeline to think about how we can promote walking to school too, not just for ‘Walktober’ but for the rest of the year.
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
