Learning This Week
The children have been really enjoying their music sessions on Wednesdays. This week they were learning about duration and timbre. They have been exploring the steady beat of different musical tracks, experimenting with body percussion and composing clapping patterns with partners. Then it was time to think about timbre and transfer their skills to playing the different percussion instruments.
This week in Year 1, the children have been exploring capacity in maths. They have enjoyed exploring different containers with water using the language of full, empty, half full, half empty, nearly empty and nearly full. The children then used two different containers to compare which one would hold the most and the one that would hold the least. Lots of children were surprised to discover that the width of a container can affect how much water it can hold rather than just how tall a container is!
Year 2 have had a fantastic week full of creativity and curiosity! In DT, the children worked brilliantly in teams to design structures inspired by famous landmarks, showing great imagination and collaboration. In Writing, they have loved learning facts about their chosen animals and are full of excitement to write non-chronological reports next week. Their ideas and sentence work have been amazing! Well done Year 2! We’re so proud of your enthusiasm and effort!
Second Hand Uniform
We have moved lots of our preloved uniform out to the office foyer, so it's more accessible to parents to come in and have a look. There is an honesty box at the hatch for you to leave a small cash donation for any items you've taken if you would like to do so.
We are running low on jumpers & cardigans, so if you have any of the ones with the school logo that are still in wearable condition as the end of the school year approaches, please consider dropping them in to us - especially our Year 2 children as we do struggle for the larger sizes.
Due to storage, we cannot take donations of any other uniform at this time.

Summer Fayre - 28th June
We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Summer Fayre tomorrow! You should have all received an email containing information but just incase here is the link to the information booklet .

There are a couple of stalls that will accept card payments but the rest will be cash only. Please can we ask you to preferably bring as much change as possible rather than big notes as this would really help us out.
Thank you to all our volunteers that have signed up ... we got there in the end! Thank you to 5th Hedge End Guides that have kindly delivered our poster to advertise the event. Thank you to everyone that has helped behind the scenes and that have been super busy during the weeks leading up to this event. Thank you also to our sponsors, our raffle donations and to everyone that has donated items towards the fayre.
Our personal weather forecast is mostly cloudy with a spot of light rain about in the mid-morning and up towards lunchtime. However, into the afternoon, conditions should clear with cloud breaking up to bright or sunny spells while staying dry. It will be breezy, although not as windy as today and temperatures are expected to peak around 25C so feeling pleasantly warm. Thank you to the dad that has informed us of this.
Don't forget your sun cream and hats and you are welcome to bring a picnic blanket so you can sit down, have your food and drink and enjoy the music.
See you all tomorrow!!!!

Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
