Learning This Week
It's been another fun and busy week in Early Years. The children have really enjoyed taking part in Harvest themed crafts during Discovery Time, and had lots of pumpkins, printed sweetcorn and collaged fruits and vegetables to share in our school Harvest Festival celebration.
In adult directed learning the adults have been so proud and impressed with the children's progress and enthusiasm during Kinetic Letters sessions.
What a brilliant first half term the children have had! There has been so much learning happening over these weeks and the children have been able to articulate their learning, using the vocabulary taught throughout the lessons. Over the past few weeks in Design and Technology, the children in Key Stage 1 have been exploring wheels and axles. From this, they designed a carousel based on fairy tales and then this week, the children have constructed those carousels. They had to ensure that their designs were true to their plan, with the characters and that the carousel was able to spin around. As a Key Stage team, we are immensely proud of their work and the teamwork that has been shown throughout this unit.
Forest School
The recently installed outdoor classroom has been very popular and we are very excited about our upcoming plans to revamp our pond and woodland area so we can make better use of them to support learning. As part of this project, the School Ambassadors made a special visit to Swanwick Lakes this week, where they took part in a range of Forest School activities and learnt how our wonderful outdoors can help us learn not only about our environment but also help us develop a raft of other skills and knowledge as well as build resilience, teamwork independence. Following the visit the School Ambassadors will be working with Ms Riches to think about how they can develop our outdoor area so that everyone at the school can benefit from the fantastic opportunity to learn outdoors. The children returned to school with great enthusiasm and can't wait to get started on this new venture. Watch this space for an update soon !
Rememberance
As in previous years, we now have Poppies to sell in school for a donation to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Items are available from the school office before and after school, and also during break times when we return after half term. Children are welcome to bring in change to purchase these items - please see suggested donations.
This year we also have the 2025 enamel pin badges with a suggested minimum donation of £2 each.
If any of our children are members of Rainbows, Beavers etc, and would like to wear their uniform on Remembrance Day (Tuesday 11th November) they would be very welcome to.
Scholastic Book Fair
Thank you so much to all the families who came along after school, or sent in money with their child to spend in the fair - we made over £1200 in sales, which meant we had almost £700 in Rewards to spend on books!!!!
We have chosen a wide selection of books to go into our school library and class book corners. We hope you are all enjoying your new books at home also!
Free Courses for Adults

Year R / Year 3 Applications Opening Soon!
As you may be aware, the application process for children starting in Year R and Year 3 (infant to junior school) in September 2026 opens at midnight on Saturday 1 November 2025.
Applications can be submitted online or parents can request a PDF version of the application form by emailing admissions.team@hants.gov.uk.The deadline for applications is 15 January 2026.
We have been asked to share the following guidance with any parents making an application:
Name three schools on your application to maximise your chances of being offered a place at one of your preferred schools.
Submit your application on-time, before the 15 January 2026 deadline.
Use the County Council’s school catchment area finder to check the catchment school for your address
Read the school’s admission policies to find out how many places are available and what criteria will be used to allocate places if the school is oversubscribed.
Think about how your child will get to school. See travel to school to help plan your journey and find out if you are eligible for help with transport. You must name your catchment school(s) if you have one, as a preference if you wish to apply for travel assistance.
Christmas Performance
This year's Christmas performance will be A Miracle in Town! There will be 2 performances on Tuesday 16th December (at 9.10am and 2.00pm) and one on Wednesday 17th December at 9.10am.
As in previous years, each child will have 2 tickets, which can be used for any performance. This is 2 tickets total, not 2 tickets per show.
Tickets are free, but need to be booked online here. You will need to provide the name of the child the tickets are allocated to, as well as the name of each guest. Younger children will need a ticket if they cannot sit comfortably on an adult's lap for around an hour, and unfortunately we do not have space in the hall for pushchairs.
If there are tickets remaining the week before the shows, these will be released on a first come, first served basis.

What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
