Message from Miss Holmes
It’s been such a joy to feel the warmth of the sun this week and to see the children enjoying their playtimes outdoors. Spring always brings a lovely sense of energy and excitement across the school, and we’re really looking forward to all the Easter and seasonal activities coming up.
One of the highlights every year is our Easter Hat Parade, and we can’t wait to see the marvellous creations the children will bring in. The imagination and effort that you all put into these hats always makes it such a special event.
Learning This Week
This week in Early Years the children have had an exciting delivery! The children have been intrigued by what could be inside the egg. Once some of the eggs had hatched the children came up with lots of interesting ways to keep the chicks warm in the brooder and have been immersed in amazing learning inspired by the new arrivals.
In KS1 this week the children have been continuing their learning about the Titanic in History and Art. In History, they have been historians and exploring more about what life was like for 1st class, 2nd class and 3rd class passengers on board the Titanic. In Art, the children have learnt about tints and shades creating their own using the colour blue. They used this knowledge to create a background for their Titanic pictures.
Playground Gates
You may have noticed this morning that we did not unlock the playground gate by the Junior School entrance. This is to try and discourage the children from the Junior School from using our playground unsupervised before school starts. If you do have children who attend both schools, please remind them that they should not be on our site at any time if they are not accompanied by an adult.

Emotion Coaching
Emotion coaching is a gentle approach that helps young children understand and manage their feelings by guiding them through emotional moments with calm support. It involves noticing when a child is experiencing a big feeling, helping them name and understand that emotion, reassuring them that all feelings are okay, and then guiding them towards appropriate behaviour and simple problem‑solving once they are calm. By using emotion coaching, parents help children build confidence, improve self‑control, and develop the skills they need to handle everyday challenges with greater resilience.

Easter Hat Parade
We are delighted to announce the return of our much‑loved Easter Hat Parade! On Monday 23rd March, the school gates will open at 2.30pm, with the parade beginning at 2.45pm on the playground.
All children are invited to get creative and make their own Easter hat or Easter-themed head accessory at home. During the event, the children will proudly parade around the playground wearing their creations, while parents and carers stand around the circumference of the playground to enjoy the spectacle.
We will also be hosting our Annual Easter Bake Off competition, along with a cake sale run by F.I.S.H.E.S, both before and after the parade. More details about this will be shared in the PTA section of the newsletter.
We look forward to seeing everyone’s egg‑cellent creations! 🐣🌷
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.
Year Group Home Learning Newsletters

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
