Learning This Week
In Early Years this week, the children have enjoyed creating their own firework pictures with chalk and patterns in coloured salt. They have been practising their pencil grip and pencil control to make pictures of beautiful night skies.
Don't forget, the Southern Daily Echo "First Class" Supplement comes out on Friday 14th November, and will include our current EYFS classes!
This week, Key Stage One kicked off their learning about Structures and Materials with a fantastic Construction Day. The children absolutely loved measuring, building and testing their towers to make sure they were strong and stable. It was wonderful to see so much teamwork and creativity.
In Computing, the children explored photography using the iPads. They had a brilliant time taking photos for Photography Bingo, hunting for different objects and angles to capture. It was a fun and interactive way to learn new skills behind the camera!
Well done KS1 for an amazing first week back!
Rememberance
As in previous years, we now have Poppies to sell in school for a donation to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Items are available from the school office before and after school, and also during break times. Children are welcome to bring in change to purchase these items - please see suggested donations.
This year we also have the 2025 enamel pin badges with a suggested minimum donation of £2 each.
If any of our children are members of Rainbows, Beavers etc, and would like to wear their uniform on Remembrance Day (Tuesday 11th November) they would be very welcome to.
Christmas Performance
This year's Christmas performance will be A Miracle in Town! There will be two performances on Tuesday 16th December (at 9.10am and 2.00pm) and one on Wednesday 17th December at 9.10am.
As in previous years, each child will have 2 tickets, which can be used for any performance. This is 2 tickets total, not 2 tickets per show.
Tickets are free, but need to be booked online here by Monday 8th December. You will need to provide the name of the child the tickets are allocated to, as well as the name of each guest. Younger children will need a ticket if they cannot sit comfortably on an adult's lap for around an hour, and unfortunately we do not have space in the hall for pushchairs.
If there are tickets remaining after the 8th December, these will be released on a first come, first served basis for up to 2 more tickets per family.
Please note this is whole school performance, where every class is included in the show.

Hampshire Happy Talkers
Do you know what speech and language support is available for a child in Year R? Hampshire County Council, in partnership with the Hampshire and IOW NHS Healthcare Trust and Bernardo's, have developed Hampshire Happy Talkers: a speech, language and communication pathway available for professionals and parents / carers of children aged up to 5 years.
The pathway provides digital resources, easily signposting to speech, language and communication offers and local interventions, which are suitable for all levels of child development, from universal offers through to more specialist help to ensure there is something to meet the needs of all children.
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
