Learning This Week
This week in EYFS the children have continued their learning from last week after being inspired by plants. They decided to plant their own seeds and discussed that a plant needs water, soil, sunlight, space and nutrients to grow.
This week Year 1 loved their trip to Tudor house! The children enjoyed exploring the house and learning about why it burnt in The Great Fire of London. There were many interesting artefacts to look at and the children were great at guessing what they were used for. It was lovely to see the children also enjoying the Tudor garden and drawing some of the statues and flowers.
This week, Year 2 had great fun getting creative with nature through Land Art. In small groups, they used natural materials like leaves, sticks, stones and fallen petals to design and build outdoor sculptures.
They talked about how 3D sculptures have height, depth, and width, and thought carefully about adding layers and texture to their work. Their creativity really shone through!
They also enjoyed exploring the school grounds to collect their materials, making the most of our lovely outdoor spaces. We reminded everyone to stay safe when handling wood and natural objects.
Well done Year 2,brilliant teamwork and imagination!

Physical parent workshops on Phonics scheme, Kinetic Letters, Behaviour Policy etc. would be nice again and waiting for the online versions of the behaviour ones is taking a long time. At least provide a hand out on the new schemes or something maybe (already viewed the behaviour bits on website)? Seem to have been a lot of changes this year with little information provided to parents.
We did
Sadly, despite offering a range of parent workshops, attendance at our face to face workshops has been very low. We have tried to offer them at different times and on different days to accommodate different working patterns for our parents. By providing recorded workshops, parents can access them at their own convenience. Miss Holmes has created some videos about the new Behaviour Policy and more are coming too. These have been advertised on our whole school newsletter, Facebook and they are available on our website

Walk with Wheels Week
In a change from the normal Walk to School Week, Walk with Wheels Week is from the 19th - 23rd May.
Trickbox
This week EYFS have been learning Win Win, and Year 1 & 2 have been learning Light Bulb.
Nut Free School
We would like to remind parents that we are a nut free school. We have members of both the staff and student community who are anaphylactic to nuts of all varieties. This includes obvious things like hazelnut spread in sandwiches, but also many types of cereal bars and biscuits also contain nuts. Please check the ingredients list of all food items that you send into school.

Attendance Guide for Parents / Carers
What YOU must do:
Try to telephone the school before 8.30am each day of your child’s absence.
Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival.
If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help!
What WE will do:
Check your child’s attendance every day.
Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you.
Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned.
If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit.
