Students For Fredonia is a group that was founded in December 2023 in response to the announced cutting of 13 programs. This then sprouted in the group's interest in the Fredonia budget.
From the original protest and pushback, our group was formed. Since then we have worked to gain information behind the decisions and to express student concerns to the administration.
Sadly the concerns have fallen on deaf ears. While we have gotten to a point where the budget cuts are not reversible we are still fighting with our administration to have them advocate for this campus.
We deserve to be able to thrive as students and to be proud of where we go to school and we won't be able to do that if we keep getting underfunded, which will keep happening if no one speaks for us.

We want communication. Time and time again the administration goes over students' heads making decisions. The administration is not the ones who have to live with the reality of these decisions. They are not the ones who are losing access to classes or majors, we are. We deserve to know what is happening in the University we attend and they are not giving that to us.
Students for Fredonia will continue to demand that student voice has a place in these discussions

Not only us but 18 SUNY Campuses are being underfunded and are struggling because of it. It is not because SUNY does not have the money to do that but rather that they are funneling the money elsewhere, specifically the Big 4 SUNY schools. SUNY was made so people who previously may have not had access to higher education have a gateway to it. If this neglect continues then we are going to end up in the same position that SUNY was created to get us out of. It is not equitable or right that talented and smart individuals are getting their opportunities stripped from them because the SUNY Board of Trustees cannot spare the money.
We have been working with UUP (United University Professionals), because this affects the professors and staff as well, to continually put pressure on the SUNY Board of Trustees.
