"The Entertainer" is a great introduction to ragtime music. When you use different recordings/arrangements, you can highlight differences in instrumentation, expression, and tempo! Teach the movement activity described below and then have the students perform the same movement with two or more different recordings. Encourage them to use musical terminology to describe differences they observe.
