On the day of your library orientation event, seamless communication is the linchpin that ensures everything runs smoothly. Having a well-structured communication system in place can make all the difference in handling unexpected challenges, optimizing team coordination, and providing a memorable experience for your students.
We also assigned a designated 'floater' or a point person who was well-acquainted with all event stations and activities. This individual was ready to step in wherever needed, be it assisting with crowd control, filling in as a 'ghost' when a team member required a break, or addressing any unforeseen issues.
As SUNY Fredonia is a Google campus, we leveraged Google Space as our established communication portal. This allowed for real-time updates, instant messaging, and easy access to event documents, schedules, and resources. Having a digital workspace like this ensured that our team remained well-informed and ready to tackle any unexpected situations as they arose.
As you plan your event, consider the invaluable role that effective communication plays on the day itself. Designating a knowledgeable 'floater' and utilizing digital communication tools like Google Space can help your team stay connected and adaptable.
