Frazee-Vergas Public Schools has an opportunity to bring approximately $230,000 in additional tax dollars back to our district — without increasing the tax impact on local property owners.

A change in state law allows qualifying school districts with a voter-approved Operating Referendum to receive tax dollars generated by seasonal recreational properties that would otherwise go to the state.

Frazee-Vergas qualifies. But we need an Operating Referendum in place to access these dollars.

Frazee-Vergas currently collects taxes through Local Operating Revenue. Under the proposal, those dollars would shift to an Operating Referendum.

The Local Operating Revenue would decrease by the same amount that the Operating Referendum increases.

The result: ZERO tax impact.

Having the voter-approved referendum in place would then allow Frazee-Vergas to receive approximately $230,000 in additional redirected tax dollars.
