Counting

  • Have your child count objects around the house

  • Count by 10's

  • Put a numbers in plastic Eggs, have your child go on an Egg hunt- open the egg and count on 5 from the number in the egg

Addition/Subtraction

  • Use food or toys to create and solve addition and subtraction word problems

  • Use sidewalk chalk to write addition and subtraction facts

  • Put addition and subtraction facts in plastic Eggs, have your child go on an Egg hunt- open the egg and solve the equations in the egg

2D/3D shapes

  • Have your child spot things around the house or outside that are 2D and 3D shapes

  • Describe the different different shapes

  • Draw 2D/3D shapes with sidewalk chalk

  • Use playdoh to make shapes

Greater/Less Than/Equal to

  • Play Mystery Number

Think of a number for your child to guess. After each guess, respond with clues such as "greater than" or "less than," until the mystery number is guessed.

  • Compare different snack amounts using the terms greater than/less than/equal to

Measurement

  • Use non-standard units (legos, shoes, crayons, etc) to measure the height and length of objects around your house

Play Family Games with Math

  • Plenty of family games incorporate math. Tic tac toe, Connect Four, and dominoes are just some of the many games that help build math skills.
