Chromebooks

Chromebook Procedures

  • Each students has been issued a personal Chromebook by the school district. Typically, students hold on to this computer until the end of their 6th grade year unless devices are being upgraded at the end of the school year.

  • Students will be responsible to bring their Chromebook to school on a daily basis fully charged. Students are required to also bring their chargers to school in case of emergencies.

  • Please ensure that your child has a safe place to store their computer and a consistent charging location nightly, perhaps next to their book bag so that they don't forget to bring it with them to school.

  • Please make sure that your child selects a school-appropriate wallpaper and Google account picture, if they elect to customize these items.

  • Also, please make sure that students are always logged into their school Google accounts and not their personal Google accounts.

  • Please do not permit your child to deface their computers by writing on them or coloring in or removing the keys. Families are responsible to cover the costs of intentional damages.

Handling Issues with the Chromebooks or Chargers:

  • Students will advise their homeroom teacher about their computer-related issue & will bring their Chromebook and/or charger to the designated Chromebook representative during the homeroom period (usually in the cafeteria).

  • Depending on the individual situation and availability, the student may be issued a temporary Chromebook while their assigned Chromebook is being fixed. A log will be kept on file to record the number incidences where a student has reported a technological issue with their assigned Chromebook. An electronic device referral may also be submitted to the principal documenting damage to the device.

  • Students will be responsible to pay the designated fee for a lost or destroyed Chromebook. Students who cause intentional damage to a chrome book will be discipline for “damage to school property” and will also forfeit their ability to have an assigned Chromebook for the remainder of the academic year.

  • Your child's fixed computer will be returned to the Chromebook duty representative who will then coordinate the return of your child's Chromebook. Your child should bring their loaner computer (and any charger that may have also been loaned to them) with them when retrieving their fixed computer.

What if my child forgets their computer or forgets to charge it?

  • Students who left their Chromebook at home will be issued a temporary chrome book (if available) for use during that specific school day. The Chromebook will be returned to the Chromebook representative before the student leaves for the day. They must immediately report their forgotten Chromebook to their homeroom teacher.

  • Students who need to charge their Chromebook will be able to do so in coordination with their teachers throughout the day. Again, an electronic device referral may be submitted to the principal documenting the situation if the frequency of the uncharged computer begins to interfere with academic learning.

  • Students who leave their Chromebook at home or do not fully charge their Chromebooks are subject to disciplinary consequences.
