About our Library
Our library is so much more than a room full of books. It is a space for exploration, creativity and connection. A place where you are free from judgment and can express yourself. Where you can build a castle out of Legos or engineer a dream for a better future. Where you can plan your next leap across the chess board or strategize your next move in a board game.
This library is many things, but at the heart of it all it is a space where imaginations are nurtured, dreams are formed, minds are expanded and connections are made. A place full of joy and love.
Hi there! I'm Paige Chambers, and I couldn't be happier to be the librarian and makerspace teacher at John Street School! I grew up in Florida and moved to Long Island five years ago.
This is my third year in the library at John Street School. I also run the Lego Club, Strategy Games Club, Indoor/ Outdoor Gardening, Make & Mingle and Mindful Movements afterschool clubs.
I’m passionate about creating a library space where every learner is inspired, supported, free to explore and loved. That means nurturing not only academic skills, but also emotional well-being. I regularly incorporate mindfulness and yoga into my work to help students develop focus, resilience, and self-awareness in a space that is safe, inclusive, and joyful.
As a digital navigator, I love working with families to make technology feel more manageable and meaningful. I offer simple, practical strategies for handling screen time and digital safety in a way that’s nonjudgmental and culturally responsive. Whether I’m leading a workshop, hosting a one-on-one session, or setting up a display on digital literacy, my goal is always to build confidence and connection—online and off.
