My name is Amanda Ramey. I am a 5th grade social studies teacher at CBIS. I really feel like I have landed my dream job, teaching my dream grade level, and my dream subject! I am excitedly looking forward to an amazing year!
This is my 9th year teaching. I've been in Warren Township, Clark Pleasant, Pike, and now home. I loved teaching in the inner city however I left Pike to come home to teach and be with my family more. This is my 4th year teaching at CBIS and my first teaching only social studies. (I taught 5th grade social studies and an elementary teacher for several years in Indianapolis.) I love teaching about Native Americans, colonies, and the American Revolution. I am a teacher that teaches through story telling and making up similar scenarios to relate to. Chances are I compare our hallway to the Mississippi River or another teacher as King George at some point. I also love to share the ridiculous things I make up to remember important information! (Sorry in advance)
I have two children, a current CBIS sixth grader, Landon and a very energetic 3 year old Eleanor. I have been married to my husband, Deryck, for 4 years. Deryck and I met when we were becoming teachers, he is now in his first year as principal in Shelbyville. We love Disney, hiking, eating at new restaurants, and drinking coffee in new coffee shops/bookstores.
I grew up in Franklin, attending Northwood Elementary, Custer Baker (as a middle school- I tell the kids I haven't grown in height since the last time I left this building) and then graduating from FCHS. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from IUPUC.
