THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING!!! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Scholastic Book Fair will be here from Monday, April 1st through Friday, April 5th. We are looking for volunteers to help throughout the duration of the fair. Monday the 1st will be the teacher/student preview day. The Book Fair will be open for purchases from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Volunteers are especially needed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday due to my lack of availability on those days. If you can help during any of these times, please contact Jennifer Andrew at jandrew@franklinschoolct.org or 860-933-7769 (text preferred, especially during school hours).
SATURDAY MORNING ART PROGRAM AT NFA -If you're unfamiliar with SMCA, we are a program that has been in existence for over 130 years on the NFA Campus. It is a great program for budding artists to get a little extra time in the studio beyond what their school can typically offer. We take students in grades 1-8; with sessions throughout the year. Each session runs for about 10 weeks and costs $150. Our third session, of which registration is open for now, begins on March 3rd, 2024, and runs until May 18th. Classes either run from 8:45 am - 10:15 or 10:30 - 12, which offers flexibility for many of our families. We host an art show in the Converse Art Gallery on campus in March. More info, including sign-ups, can be found here via our website. There is also an informational flyer attached!!
KINDERGARTEN - Kindergarten enrollment requirements have changed for the 2024-2025 school year. According to Public Act 23-208, students must now be five years old by September 1, 2024, to enroll in Kindergarten (previously, it was by December 31). Please feel free to contact Lori Goldstein, Director of Special Education, at lgoldstein@franklinschoolct.org if you have any questions or need to schedule a Kindergarten Developmental Assessment for your child for the 2024-2025 School Year.
PRESCHOOL - If you have a child who was born in 2020 or 2021, please call the main office or email Lori Goldstein at lgoldstein@franklinschoolct.org with your child's name and D.O.B. so that we can add you to our mailing list for preschool. Even if you do not plan on sending your child to preschool here at FES next year, please still reach out to us so that we have your information.
Ms. Hanes has transitioned nicely into her new role as School Office Manager. Her email is jhanes@franklinschoolct.org and she will also receive emails at FESOffice@franklinschoolct.org regarding attendance, tardies, transportation changes, and absences.

Summer Youth Day Camp: Weeks of July 8th, July 15th, & August 5th
Welcome to our Eastern Youth Soccer Camps. We are excited to once again share our enthusiasm and knowledge with youth players in the area. It is a great time to be a part of our camps. In an average summer, over 500 boys and girls aged 6-18 participated in our camps. Each year we continue to get better and maintain or improve the overall experience. Our events are educational and fun at the same time. We take pride in our product and strive to provide the best camp experience and value.
Please send any additions for the FES Weekly Update to FESAdmin@franklinschoolct.org. Going forward, the updates will be emailed to all staff and families, the BoE, and town officials and posted on the school's Facebook page and website.
Thank you to Mr. Baran, our adult volunteers, our students, and our supportive community for the performance of "A Grunkleton Carol."
