An IEP, or an Individualized Education Plan, is a written plan created for students who have an identified disability that are eligible for special education. It is created by a team of counselors and team psychologists, and can account for classroom help and changes in curriculum that account for the students needs.
IEPs are only offered through high school, whereas a 504 plan is offered for the duration of a student's life.
A 504 plan is an individualized write up of a student's accommodations. This is created by a team of counselors and school psychologists. 504 plans can range from having dedicated breaks in class to have a support teacher in the classroom to assist with learning. A 504 plan is meant to be a tool that students can use to be able to learn like other students in the classroom.
