Transitioning from Middle School to High School

Middle school students showing a mastery of the content and skills that are comparable to FHS Level 1 curriculum are recommended for Level 2. (FHS Spanish 1 and French 1 are the equivalent of middle school Spanish/French 1, so the next course in the program scope and sequence is Spanish/French 2 in high school)

Middle school students who show some facility with linguistic concepts and/or communication skills, but who have not mastered what is necessary to move on without considerable review are either recommended for Level 1 or Level 2, depending on the individual student.

Students who demonstrate significant difficulty with these concepts or who have had limited exposure to the language generally will take level 1 of any language at the high school.
