All teachers are required to complete a PGP each year. Your professional development choices should align to your PGP and be discussed with your direct supervisor. It is each teachers responsibility to keep up with your professional development activities. All sessions will have a sign-in sheet, google form, or a certificate of completion at the end of the session. Please be sure to sign-in for in-person trainings or turn in your certificate of completion for online trainings to the person responsible for PD at your school.
The following sessions are required and regulated by KDE for all certified staff (SafeSchools trainings) and cannot be credited toward the 24 hours of PD requirements:
Suicide Prevention (KRS 156.095 (6)(c)(1))
Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect (KRS 156.095 (8) (e)-(f))
Physical Restraint & Seclusion (704 KAR 7:160 Section 6-7))
Bloodborne Pathogen (OSHA/U.S. Dept of Labor, 29 CFR 1910.1030)
Active Shooter (KRS 156.095 (7))
Seizure Disorders (KRS 158.070 (3)(b))
Additional trainings may be required for some staff depending on their job requirements such as but not limited to assessment training (required local and state assessments), evaluation training, CPR/AED/First Aid, etc. Your supervisor will inform you if your job responsibilities require additional trainings.
