Conference History
The Bluegrass Middle School Athletic Conference was founded in the early 1990s as a way for middle school principals and athletic directors to provide consistent implementation of middle school athletics. While the KHSAA (Kentucky High School Athletic Association) does not govern middle school sports they do regulate middle school athletics. Therefore, the founding schools felt it necessary to establish a code of ethics, consistent game schedule, eligibility rules, post-season opportunities, and more at the middle school level.
Over the past 30 years, middle school principals and athletic directors have been sharing the responsibility of hosting the conference to govern the play of nearly 15 schools in the central Kentucky region.
