Where I’m From

By Isaiah Whitis

I am from working in the summer

like a boiling pot of water

I am from hearing click clack like a

Bobcat putting rock down

I am from slugs under bricks as

If they were snakes

I am from working with bricks

As heavy as a bed filled with feathers

On a summer day

I am from programming laptops

Like encrypting a code

I am from editing youtube

Videos like a reel

Cinematic magic

I am from rewiring my room -

it took a century

I am on a life long rollercoaster

Taking me up and down

From bad to good.

The Beach I Once Knew- A Haiku Story

by Lucy S.

My feet are burning

From the sand sticking to me

I’ll try to relax

I have sandy feet

The ocean breeze comforts me

I’ll jump in the sea

The water feels nice

I swim into the abyss

My hair is now wet

I’m underwater

The saltiness fills my lungs

I see a dolphin

The dolphin’s friendly

She squeaks hello to me now

I like the dolphin

Her new name is Rose

Rose likes to swim with me

Every late Sunday

I’m leaving the beach

I’ll have a different home

I really miss Rose

Some days I go back

To the beach I knew before

I still swim with Rose
