Ella joined the team at the beginning of freshman year, starting in Parliamentary debate and fell in love with it. She was Parliamentary debate captain her junior year and became Co-President this past year. Over her four years competing in Parli, she’s been a Medalist or Champion at 7 league tournaments, going either 3-1 or 4-0. She’s been a semi-finalist, placing top four, at the national-level Winter Classic Invitational tournament twice (2023 and 2024), has quarter-finaled twice and semi-finaled at the prestigious Stanford Invitational tournament placing in the top eight, and was an octo-finalist at the Peninsula Invitational and the Berkeley International Invitational. She received four separate speaker awards at invitational tournaments, notably placing second out of a field of 90+ competitors at the Winter Classic Tournament as a sophomore. As juniors, Ella and Ruby placed 1st at the SDIVSL State Qualifier tournament as the only undefeated team at the tournament (7-0 record), becoming the top-ranked team in the league, and proceeding to the State Championship where they placed 5th in California for Parliamentary Debate. She loves competing in debate because of the plethora of knowledge and skills she’s gained, the amazing experiences she’s had, and the wonderful people she’s met through it.

Ryan remained a part of this team because speaking, persuading, and simply considering critical notions is a lifelong pursuit. It’s a way to push him and develop his thought approach toward logic and different issues. He hopes he can help anyone talk through their own curiosities about this endeavor and help find the meaning and interest of this club. He thinks LD, particularly, is rewarding and incredibly educational and not as challenging as parliamentary debate! Ryan joined the team during his freshman year and started doing parliamentary debate, impromptu, and humorous interpretation. He made it to the HI finals of both SDIVSL league and invitational tournaments across the season, going to State at the end of his freshman year. After a rough parliamentary season, he began experimenting with Lincoln-Douglas debate in the varsity division and pushed toward gradual improvement in this new debate form. He eventually departed from his prior misconception of preparation rigor and elongated research. At the end of his sophomore year, he ventured to the Lincoln-Douglas JV semi-finals of the Stanford Invitational. Then, wrapping up his sophomore year, he placed first alternate, after nine rounds, for the Southern California District Tournament. In his time in speech and debate, he has tried original prose and poetry at one tournament. He's also done duo interpretation with fellow captain Keira Doshi. Overall, he has attended nearly every tournament, and this season, in addition to club tournaments, he is looking forward to trying out Circuit Lincoln-Douglas individually.

Keira Doshi is a senior and has been on the speech and debate team since her freshman year. After her first season full of parliamentary debate, Keira and her partner Ryan decided to compete in Duo Interpretation and in her sophomore year she was hooked, only competing in IE tournaments. She has since focused on Dramatic Interpretation and Impromptu, making it to the semi-finals at numerous league tournaments and the Winter Classic Invitational. Interpretation events are very performative, and Keira hopes to bridge the gap between the theater department and the speech and debate team—she found her passion for performing at four years old and is Parker's drama club secretary. Keira believes speech and debate is one of the most important clubs to participate in because it teaches you how to communicate effectively. She loves our speech and debate team because of the coaches and community, and is excited to play a part in shaping the team!

Yuvi joined Speech and Debate in the middle of his freshman year, where he started competing in Parliamentary debate. Going through 3 different partners throughout the course of the rest of his freshman year, Yuvi ended up partnering with Kavish Kondap. He and Kavish went 3-1 at the 2022 1A tournament and 3-2 at the SDIVSL State Qualifying Tournament. As for invitationals, at the Peninsula Invitational he went 6-0 during prelims and eared the #1 seed in open parliamentary debate before ending up as event quarterfinalists, and at the Stanford Invitational he and Kavish went 5-1 during prelims, earning the #3 seed in open parli before ending up as event semifinalists. Although Yuvi loves debating with Kavish, he’s also entered quite a few arenas on the speech side of things. In his first speech tournament as a freshman Yuvi broke to the finals in novice impromptu and got 6th place. Following this he decided to try his luck at Humorous Interpretation, and at the 2022 SDIVSL State Qualifying Tournament he broke to the semifinals in HI. During the 2023 speech season, Yuvi decided to be the first student from Parker to compete in the Informative speech event. His speech about Kendrick Lamar’s Pulitzer and 6X Grammy award winning album "To Pimp a Butterfly" earned him 4th place at the 1B Speech event, a semifinal break at the Winter Classic Invitational, and 2nd place at the 2023 SDIVSL State Qualifying Tournament earning him a bid to the California State Championship tournament. He is excited to be the Platform Events Captain as his informative speech allowed him to demonstrate and talk about the topics he was the most passionate. He hopes that he will be able to show others how fun and interesting platform events can really be and is excited to help those who want to compete in platform events!

Mark started competing in Speech and Debate at the very beginning of his Freshman year. At his first IE tournament, he placed first in Novice Impromptu and 3rd in Novice Declamation. In Parli, he went 4-2 at the Peninsula Invitational and advanced to Novice Semifinals in the Stanford Invitational. At the first league Parli tournament in his Sophomore year, Mark and his partner London went undefeated. Later in the season, they advanced to Octofinals at Winter Classic. During his Sophomore year, Mark also started competing in International Extemporaneous and ended up qualifying for State Championships in Fresno. For his Junior year, Mark will be one of the Parli Co-Captains. Mark looks forward to helping the next generation love and excel in Parli while continuing to compete!

Ruby started speech and debate in seventh grade, where she fell in love with parliamentary debate. She joined the Parker team in ninth grade, and is partners with Ella Lee-Guest. They have competed in multiple tournaments together (league tournaments, Palm Classic Invitational, Stanford Invitational, Peninsula Invitational). They have gone undefeated and 3-1 in league, and broken intro quarterfinals at both Palm Classic and Stanford Invitationals at which Ruby got second place in speaker awards. Ruby has also competed in SPAR tournaments in middle school, and done an additional parli tournament outside of school. She thinks that parli is the best event offered and loves its pace and quick thinking. When she’s not practicing parli, Ruby enjoys participating in Model United Nations (MUN), playing tennis, and competing in Mock Trial.
