Each year CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is given $7 million in funding for high school students to spend 3-4 weeks of their summer studying abroad. Students can earn partial and full scholarships for their program tuition based on merit + need. Last year, CIEE awarded $610,000 in scholarships to high school students all over New England!
CIEE offers two types of High School Summer Abroad programs:
Language & Culture: 4-week immersion programs offered in Chinese, Arabic, Italian, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese. College Credits from Tulane University are available too!
Theme Based: 3-week immersion programs offered in STEM, leadership, sports, fashion, animal conservation, sustainability, robotics and more.

CIEE is a non-profit study abroad program. Students spend a summer living in a foreign country while being immersed in the culture and language. CIEE program leaders, coordinators and educators help students to acclimate to their new setting and form a much deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
Framingham High School has a partnership with CIEE and we are considered a Global Navigator School.
CIEE's mission is to humanize international relations and foster peace through international education and exchange programs that promote intercultural understanding, which is closely aligned with Massachusetts Foreign Language standards and our own district's Socio-Emotional Learning and Equity and Inclusion goals.
